I'm just suggesting that it be protected from direct contact with salt water in some way. This could easily be done after purchase as well, but I was just trying to help improve the design.

Yes, a bar of G90 takes 20 years to corrode completely, but we're talking about a very thin piece of metal that makes up a major moving part of the unit. IMO it's only wise to protect the piece that is most likely to fail as best you can.

Hi Guys

Thanx for all the suggestions, I am looking at a number of ways to improve.

There seems to be a little confusion on the revolutions, they will non function horizontally, they have to be vertical but can be run upside down, in the normal mode they have an air pocket trapped in the upper drum, this is the return mechanism, when water enters the unit they are driven down and index, the air lifts and indexes them on the up stroke.

if the unit is mounted on the bottom of the tank from either a hole drilled in the bottom or from plumbed pipe the unit is forced up and indexes when water enters, it needs to return down when water stops flowing, best way is to fill the upside down air pocket with sand or gravel and plant frags in it..

The videos show a lot of flow going through, would this be too much for a lil 55g hex? And would i just pipe this with the return from my sump or do i need to drill more bulkheads for a seperate loop?

You can vary the flow depending on the pump you use to power it.

duh, i shoulda thought about that, what about the plumbing can i just run a second pump in my sump or y valve the return line, or hang an over flow and run it from that....im not very plumbing in clined but i can pcv glue anything

Well Guys

I promised by the weekend and it's almost here.

I am happy to say that everything is in place and we are now taking orders for the 8 way units, the first one is on it's way tomorrow to a lucky gentleman by the name of Tracy.

A sincere thank you!! to all of you for both your comments, your suggestions and your assistance in making this happen.

I have had some great conversations with a number of you.

We have things well under control and production of all the other components is moving well, we hope to have the 4-way within 10 days and the revolutions at the same time.

Paul, ever though about machining a cover for the motor that bolts down with the bolts already there? It wouldn't be to make it waterproof, but to keep salt spray out.

I have a dolphin 3000 with two scwd's on it... made a Tee with my pvc with ball valves on each side to get 4 returns in various motions. 80$ and less likey to break a seal than a internal moving part that you are not sure when its going to go,,, Great idea though. I'll watch for comments and stats on it,,, what happens when the internal parts put to much back pressure on your pumps. Which Seal with go first ?

NuclearReefs.. yes.. scwd donÃ"šÃ‚´t have seals ,but the internal parts are cheaply made. I have gone thru 2 scwd in 9 months. They just stop working. Before that, I have to retun 2 scwd because I couldnÃ"šÃ‚´t get them to stop leaking.. I really donÃ"šÃ‚´t like scwd. Just a waste of money.

I am gettting a 4 way unit as soon as they are ready to ship..

I don't have one, im still building my tank, all i have right now is one closed loop to the sump and back up on a mag 7 i think....700 gph but goin up 5 feet its reduced to 425. Hopefully by adding one of this bad boys i can up the gph for better circulation and get waves at the same time.
