my 280gal 8-way

my 280gal 8-way

Well it isn't done but I thought I would post a pic anyway. This is my 280gal in-wall with an 8-way mounted to a Dolphin 4700.

1.5" input to 8 1" outputs, many of which are split again into 2 3/4" lines allowing 3/4 locline on the interior and 3/4" revolutions on top.

1" Revolutions: Any timetable on production???? not that it matters too much because I still don't have water in the tank, but getting close. The suspense is killing me. Everybody that comes over thinks it is some sort of spider with all the arms and "tees" I have coming from the unit. Can't wait to see it actually move some water.

Geez, I get enough junk mail every day. I don't need ten more that say "tag." In case you didn't know it, there is an icon on the bottom of EVERY page that says "Subscribe to this Thread." Please use it instead of "tag" and help reduce junk mail.

Sorry, pet peeve of mine.

I got the 4 way, but am using only two outputs. Here is a shot of plumbing in progress

BlueTBird - WHY would you ONLY use TWO outlets? wouldn't you want the extra two for MORE FLOW and more RANDOM flow?? i would plumb the 2 over the tank back.

are you guys using 1" PVC's all around? or is it better to use 1" from pump to unit and from the unit out 3/4" ?
Thanks

Sorry if this is out of place of has been brought up before, but I just had to skip to the end after reading the first 25 or so pages:p

I'm setting up a 75 Gallon tank and I definantly want one of these on it. I've been thinking I want to get a four way for my return and have an outlet (with revolutions) in each corner. I am drilling the tank, so I can make the overflow handle anything it needs to... what pump should I use for it (or at least how many GPH) and how big should the overflow hole be to handle this? This is my first tank, and all help is apprecieated.

When I have the extra money, I'll probably get another 4-way and set it up closed-loop style and have it go to a spray bar on each side of the tank...mmmmmm

Nope, not out of place at all.:) I usually recommend 5-10 turnovers per hour through the sump so a pump that does around 750 GPH after head loss would be perfect, IMO. To calculate the head loss you can use the RC head loss calculator on the home page. After you've calculated the head loss, then go to the RC overflow drain size calculator. Enter your GPH (after head loss is figured) and it will let you know what size pipe you should use for your overflow.

Just heard from Paul today that my 4-way is on its way. I just can't wait. Now I only need the tank to get here so I can start!
