New with clams... A big bag of questions...

I'm looking for some clams… (1 or 2)

How is the best way to acclimatize the clams? (Fresh water dip or someting)

Special method/attention?

Are they particularly fragile?
Do they ask a good contribution in phytoplanckton/zooplanckton?
I know that they require a good lighting, and I am equipped in 400W MH and 250W MH. Should I acclimatize them with the 250 to then put them with the 400 and to go up to the need?
Can you say me which must have substrate and which not?
Its fact a large heap of questions, but I get information before, not to make a boathook.
And how to resist to purchase one when one has some under the eyes?
I know that I will not resist.
Thank you in advance!
Cordially,

Very useful links, and they are full of answer...

Thanks a lot!

Does a good refugium is enough for phytoplanckton distribution, or you guys using phyto culture adding?

a4twenty, we have aprox. the same tank. How much phyto are you feeding per day/week?

I've just started my phyto culture. I'm worried about over feeding...

i ignore what it says on the bottle ( i think it recommends 50ml every other day, increasing to 100ml ) basing it on water volume rather than bio load doesn't seem right to me. it's kind of like shampoo, on the bottle they say to wash and repeat. of course they want you to use more.

i dose 30ml twice a week when i shut down my skimmer for cleaning. i also shut down my sump and just leave my powerheads running in the tank. after 30 - 60 min. i restart my sump and after about 3 - 4 hours i restart my skimmer
