New zoas not opening

I received some zoas from an online vendor yesterday. The blues opened within 20 minutes of being in the tank and look great. The fire engine reds; however, did not open at all last night and had not opened yet when I left for work this morning.

I am running powercompacts and have them placed about midway up the tank.

Anything else I should do, or do they just sometimes take a little while? All others I have purchased in the past open within an hour of being in the tank.

Are they too close to a powerhead? Also, I find the crabs in my tanks bother my new zoas a lot and prevent them from opening for a day or two.

Always start all coral in the bottom of the tank to allow them to adjust to your tank lighting and parameters slowly. This prevents light shock to your polyps and less of a chance bleaching them.

Not all polyps also open right away, some could take a couple days to a week or so to open. Everyone's tank, parameters and environment is different and takes the polyp time to acclimate to it.

A couple of the polyps were open when I got home from work. Hopefully the rest will soon follow. Here are a few pics! Sorry for the poor quality!

I personally would put them back at the bottom to have the properly acclimate to your lighting scheme. leave them there for a while till they all open and happy then slowly move them up several inches at a time.

Thanks! Thats what I'll do now... The blues are already fully extended, so I think its okay to leave them where they are. Right?

If they're happy now leave them, but for the ones still showing stress it won't or shouldn't hurt to move them for now.
