Newb clown question

I want to attempt to pair my lone clown. I assume it is female because it has been alone for all its life (8 years). I plan on introducing a juvenile but I've read they can change sex as soon within a month of being kept alone. If I QT for 4-6 weeks and the juvenile also becomes female it would make pairing impossible correct?

From my knowledge on the subject of protandry and sequential hermaphroditism in amphiprion, I'd say your best bet is to get the smallest clown possible if you want to isolate it for 4-6 weeks in QT. They can "pull the switch", even when they're fairly young.

Here's what fishbase says about their average length at first maturity.

You could, however, place both clowns in the QT tank for the 4-6 weeks if you wanted to increase your chances of pairing and purchase a slightly larger juvenile.
