Newbie Corner Feedback-Reefkeeping 101

green corraline algae is very common--it also comes in other colours besides purple such as red. If it feels rough and is very difficult to scrape then it probably is corraline algae and not green algae

It also comes in Muove and ecru but real men can't see those colors.

I'll take some mauve coralline but not the ecru...:frog:yuck! Waterkeeper is probably out diving for the ecru and since men can't see those colors, this explains his long absence....WATERKEEPER, PLEASE COME HOME! YOU'LL NEVER FIND THE ECRU!! WE ALL MISS YOU!!!!!!:wavehand:

I have a brother who have had tanks for years, and have always enjoyed his. Now I recently began too. It is really consuming (time, money, energy - LOL). Just bought gloves myself. Hands were swelling and becoming blotchy red but that did the trick once I started wearing gloves.

Went to the trade show in Orange County, CA, (MAX EXPO) this weekend, and learned a lot from people other than my brother which was cool.

If the brain coral is still plump and swelled with no skeleton showing then I would not worry about the bubbles

Thanks Capn Hylinur, I feel a little better hearing that coming from someone thats been in the Hobby longer than I. Im still new to LPS and SPS. I plan on taking it slow and steady with this 75gal.

Do you have a wish list for the corals you are going to add?

Need some answers!!!

Need some answers!!!

I'm a beginner and have some concerns about my new tank. When I was ready to add fish to my tank I bought a Sixline Wrasse, Clownfish, Firefish, and a High Fin Goby. All seemed to be going well until I noticed the Sixline Wrasse and Clown fish being very aggressive towards my peppermint shrimp to the point that they killed and ate all 4 of them. Now I have Aiptasia growing and am afraid to add anymore shrimp to my tank. I also noticed I now have Black Sea Urchin in my tank and read that that is not necessarily a good thing for smaller tanks because their spikes can get big, I have a 20 gal tank, so I'm wondering if I should try and remove them or leave them be. Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Get some Aptasia X for the aptasia

I'm surprised that the wrassse is not picking on the fire and high fin goby

How many black urchines do you have in the tank---in your post you start of with one and then use the word them?
Long spike black urchins can grow too big for a 20 gal and then start knocking everything over.

I have 2 Black sea urchins or i think they are black sea urchins I am sending a public link to the pic on my facebook so u can see and tell me whether or not i'm right about what they are. The wrasse has gone after and injured my firefish, all seems to be well with him for right now, and so far he has left the hi-fin goby alone.
