hey guys as you know I have just been starting my tank and was just wondering what you guys thought about it so far. this tank is only a temporary tank as eventually I am getting a larger one so dont worry about the size of the fish right now they are all babies
55 gallon
normal flourescent lighting (needs to be upgraded)
about 70 lbs of live rock
rema canister filter.
300 watt heater
2 zoomed 260 powersweeps
seaclone 100 skimmer (just started skimming last night thanks for all the help)
a few damsels
niger triger
bursa trigger
huge clown fish

its a start but let me know any recommendations

I'm not much of a fan of damsels as they tend to be over aggresive, and in this case may someday become lunch for either of the triggers :) I'm also not much a fan of the seaclone 100 even though I too own one. There's lots of bbetter skimmers out there IMO and you'll end up needing something with a little more ability having two messy predators on your hands.

You're off to a pretty good start though. What are your plans for the tank? Fish only, softies, LPS, SPS, or some combination thereof?

maybe swap out the powersweeps for some SEIO 820's..also how old is the tank?? that seems like a heavy fish load.. even though they are small they still eat, and have waste.. i would also really look into what you want to keep in this tank as far as coral, then buy the light accordingly.. do lots of research on lighting, a few different options to get..T5HO, VHO,PC,MH..

I am planning on mainly fish with live rock I want to keep this tank simple as eventually I am going to go larger I just wanted to get my feet wet per say before taking on the huge tank. so I also wanted fish that would work well in the larger tank. as far as corals I have a 20 gallon with much better lighting (thanks mike) that I am going to use for that

It sounds OK for now, but you’re going to have to get a much much bigger tank. I always thought the rule with Triggers is one to a tank, but I'm not certain. It might be a good idea to trade in one of the triggers for an herbivore like a tang. I would repost this in the Aggressive Forum though; you might get better answers there. If you have Algae problems you may want to up your filtration, maybe even add a HOB fuge.
