Newish Haddoni Carpet

Hey guys and gals, this is my new haddoni carpet, he's in a 3" pvc cap in my 120 currently and staying in it because I'm in the process of setting up a 40 gallon breeder connected to my 120. My question is, how should I set up the 40 gallon? Should I place the pvc cap in then cover the whole bottom with sand, since they like to be in the sand with their foot attached to a rock (I.e. the pvc cap). Or some other way? I'm open to all comments. I'm planning on a rock wall too. Woo!

Here is the sticky beast:

That's a young one! Nice looking, too.

You don't need the PVC if you have coarse sand or coral rubble as substrate. The PVC is to make them feel secure and keep them from moving around in a bare bottom setup - or a setup with sugar grain sand.

Thank you! I'm thinking a moderately coarse sand, how would I take it out of the pvc without damaging it's foot?

i would just bury the pvc flush wth the new sand and then if it wants to move out it can do so on its own pretty easy

Thanks guys. I have a pretty cool idea of how to incorporate the nem. I'm thinking about making a rock structure that holds the PVC (that I'm going to fill with sand also) and then surround that by sand.

That's what I'm afraid of. So what should I do guys? Turn him upsidedown for a week or some and have him fall out?
