Hi everyone, I'm not a WCR member YET, but would love to attend your meeting.

Is that OK? I make really good desserts! :)

I have a few questions...

How do I join?

Do you have a website?

I'd contact 'Jake' for more info, but I don't know who the heck 'Jake' is! What's Jake's user name?

Thanks...

John, aka aqua-nut or aqua nut on other forums.

Jake,

Oh Crap! I need ten posts before I can send PMs. I'll have to make some inane comments in other threads and get back to you with a PM.

Love the emoticon, btw. Works great with your nickname.

John

Grant,

OK, now I have my 11th post! But of course now I don't need to PM.

Looking forward to meeting you all on the 11th. OOOOHHHH, numerical kismet. :)

Due to popular demand, Ken will do a photography class/workshop at this meeting so if you have a camera and would like to learn how to take great tank/corals/fish photos, feel free to bring it to this meeting.

Awesome!

Ken, are there any basic functions we should know how to access easily before showing up, so we don't waste time figuring out how to use the actual cameras?

Ah, how to take a picture? ;)

It would be helpful if people knew how to change the basic settings with their camera, like fstop, shutterspeed and focus. But if you don't, that's ok, the general points I wish to cover are applicable to most cameras.

I'll cover some basics
- cellphone, point and shoot, dslr
- exposure and exposure manipulation (shutterspeed, aperture, ISO)
- focus and depth of field
- auto versus manual

and then some of the reef specific challenges
- lighting
- why are my pics so blue?
- raw mode
- fast moving fish

and tools that can help
- tripod
- remote shutter release
- software

We can also cover how to host pics on image hosting services like Photobucket, and how to post pics on RC if people would like.

Sounds great Ken, maybe now after playing with my camera for a while AND posting pictures some of this will make sense to even me.:spin2:

That sounds really nice Ken. I will have to read over the manual for my camera before the meet so I at least know a little more about it. I can't wait for some pointers, that way I can really show off the algae on the rocks :)

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it.

Super bummed because I definitely wanted to meet some local reefers and enter the raffle for some of Grant's awesome SPS frags. Next time!
