Looks fantastic! so clean! Removing the glass tops should help a lot. If it is still to warm you could put a fan or 2 in the back (where you have the slots) to blow more cool air in.

81.5 is ok. I run mine with a set point on the cotroller of 81.

The tank got to 82.2 today.
I'm putting the glass tops back in and see what tomorrow brings...
I 'll shorten the time on the 3rd set of lights a bit

None of the corals seem stressed out. I thought that up to 82.0 is OK, its not great. Got good PE on the green slimer, milliporas etc...

The tank is outstanding! I love the lights, the coloration is excellent and the rock stack is great too!

wow looks real nice nico ! i just ordered my t5 retro from the same place. im getting 4 bulb as my tank is only 65g 36"wide
Bulbs:
ATI Blue Plus
ATI 120000K Aquablue
UV Lighting 10000K AquaSun
UV Lighting Super Actinic

cant wait to get them and build my canopy
got some nice pics with my new camera ill post soon too

This came out really well! It's given me a spark to keep my build going, and has given me some ideas for the canopy and retro kit.

Good work!

thanks again for the feedback, it's good to read I can be of help to others, especially after all the rookie questions i've been asking in the past years ;).

Morval,
You will not regret that decision. Did you talk to Greg about your bulb selection, to make sure you end up with the color temperature you are looking for? I think you will and up around 14000K if not even higher.
1 word of caution, don't underestimate the amount of heat the T5's are giving off. You can not touch the bulb if it has been on for a while :eek1:. Well, you can, but it will leave a mark...

My zoo garden is a handmade rock. It actually is my son's handprint. I'll try to shoot a better picture of it tomorrow. It's pretty cool on how the zoos started to mingle. The green and orange make a nice contrast.

yes i did talk to him and he was real helpful. im also gonna have a few of the corallife LED strips in there for some nice shimmery effect. to bad they wont be here untill wednesday

That's cool. I like the little things like that. I'm a big fan of DIY rock, although I don't think it's the easiest, and nothing better to have your sons mark on the aquarium.

I've got a rock in that my boys made too.

Any updates on the tank build? You still diggin' the t5's? I've been thinking about doing a custom hood for my 55g. I've been thinking about going with 6-t5's and maybe dual 150 or 250w metal halides with some blue leds or just running 12 t5's with the blue leds. That should put me somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-15.5 watts per gallon.

I guess a couple of updates are in order.

Love the T5's, but as I have mentioned in other threads, do not underestimate the amount of heat they give off. :eek2: I do miss the shimmer I had in my other tank, but the coloration is soo much better this way. My German green with blue polyps acro is actually showing light blue polyps now.
Other SPS's don't seem to enjoy the lights as much. My Green slimer, milliporas have not shown PE in a while, I do see them a bit at night, I hope they turn around and start showing during the day.

I removed the Clarkii clown from the display. He behaved fine a week or so and then went back to his bad habits and started chasing the the shrimps and the PJ cardinals. it lives in the dark sump for now.

During my first water change, I had a major rock collapse on the left side of the tank. My pink Pocci took the biggest hit. I now a have a good size frag available.
Everything is rebuilt and more stable.

I got a Hippo tang about 3 weeks ago, this tang is awesome, was a bit shy at first. It seems to recognize people, it doesn't hide for me or my wife, but for any other person it hides.

My latest addition is the Aquacontroller Jr. with the DB8. It really simplifies life and un-clutters all the wires and timers under the tank(=safer).
I also bought the PH probe, just for monitoring.

Time for the monthly update:

This month I added only 2 items: Dendrophylia frag and a purple pseudochromis.

My SPS's:
The montiporas seem to be growing very nicely, they are starting to color up more.
My acros are not doing too good:
My Acropora millipora do no longer have PE and my green slimer only shows a little PE at night
Not enough flow?

Poccilopora (green and pink are doing great)
My pink birds nest is doing great as well

All my LPS's are doing great.
Here is an update picture

Time for an update:

Almost everything is doing great. The milliporas are hanging in there. There is Coraline growing everywhere.

I finally established a balance with the B-Ionic. it's about 60ml's of each part per day.

I need to do a good cleaning so I can take some better shots.
