Nikon macro lense suggestion? for a D40

I am getting a nikon D40 or D40X not sure but I want to know if the AF Micro-NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8D lense will work good or not. It is the only macro lense in my price range. Any reviews or suggestions would be great. thanks

I prefer the 105 (even the older one without VR), but if the only one you can get is the 60 it will work you. I know someone who actually prefers the 60 over the 105.

You could get the Sigma 105 for nikons for about the same price as a 60mm.

Anyone know anything about the Tamron 90mm? This is the one I have been looking at getting for my D50.

I've heard that all of the Macro lenses are very sharp. The Tamron 90 is one of the very best. On my D40 I use the Sigma 150. Definitely a great lens that I would buy again.
