The only way we as an industry can grow, is to collect, handle, transport, and keep all sorts of new species. This is the only way to find out what works and what doesn't. I remember when achilles were one of the hardest fish to keep in the industry, until someone decided to up their flow and have a clean tank! Same with idols, and numerous other fish.

Because of their depth these will never be a "common" fish. Although most of you think 20 fish is now common, but we probably wont see more for a year or more. So after the remainder have been a live for a little while, we can see how they were kept, and learn and progress. It does start with decompression, and they are a fragile fish to begin with, but i'm sure they were handled fine. As with anything, its a learning process for anything new.

Thx wayne. They are but still like to eat in dark and private in caves. Hope all is well with you and new clarion. I think i have one coming also. Let you know.

Yeah, the Clarion is still thriving. I'm still observing it and will introduce it to a few tank mates soon to see if they'll play together well.

Are you going to put the Clarion in your dt? If so, hopefully you're getting a small one. They're more coral friendly.

Yes. My plan is exactly yours. I took dn my dedicated rdsb and have a dsb and refugium back in breeder 80 gall. Goingbto start fish in there and move to display.

Wow, are you serious Drew?!? Are you trying to corner the pep market??? A trio of them in your tank would be unreal!

Report
My pep was gone yesterday! Very sad! It was well fed and the condition was good before it was gone. I just want to catch its tankmate(another juvenile angelfish) out of the false decoration. I think that it is the right timing to do such action because the pep is well settle down(I guess). The tank was turbid a little while as a result of that. May be I stirr up some aptasia? All the inhabitant of the tank is fine except the pep. Hope that I will have a second chance to own a pep in future? Hong Kong is unlikely to import this fish again! I am quite familiar with the local fishshop in Hong Kong. They said that they will not import such fish again due to its high price and fragile! The conclusion of my limited experience is that pep is a very delicate fish. Not only diet is a major problem! It must be well plan like Hedgedrew before to acquire one. It is my last report on this thread.

Very sorry to hear this. But I guess I don't quite understand what happened. You went to catch a tankmate, and it went wrong somehow?

Yes! The situation is almost like that. The only decoration is one large glass fibre false decoration with holes and depressions. I take up the decoration a bit from the bottom of the tank(All decoration is totally immerse inside the water) and drive out its tankmate. Why I need to drive out its tankmate? I feel that it's tankmate post a treat to the pep. It's tankmate hold the position of the dominant fish and make the pep have less chance to acquire food. Therefore, I need to move this fish away to another side of the tank.

so sorry to hear, perhaps just too much stress in the tank with decoration moving and catching of the other fish ...
