how thick was the glass was the 2 gallon? i wanna get master blaster a 12 gallon aqua pod but dont know if he would bust out.

The 2gal was 5mm glass. These guys are powerful for their size, but a small smasher doesn't pose as great a risk as it sometimes it made out. Ike is only 3 inches long and he can't even get into snail shells if they are too thick. If you had a 6-12" that might be another story though...
I think those aquapods are sweet tanks. Good luck.

ok mine is about 2.5 inches he is a Gonodactylus smithii. i will get it for me(him). the aqua pode is 5mm maybe 6mm. if it was a NC than it would shatter. mine has trouble with hermit shells. he always gets to the hermit some how... is yours a N. wennerae? if so then he wont get any bigger. mine should get to about 3 inches.

Actually Ike is a g. smithii as well and already 3 inches long (I just corrected my previous post). There is still a red leg hermit in his tank that he can't get into - there used to be a snail that he couldn't open too but when he was at home and I didn't have his krill, I used a pair of wire cutters to open up the shell so he would have something to eat.

I think that his favorite food might be zebra hermit crabs. I gave him a couple last week and he seemed to love them. A couple days ago though, I stuffed some krill in a shell and dropped it infront of his cave (like always). He came out and sniffed it but instead of taking it back in with him, he just tossed it towards me a couple inches and went back inside. I had to wait until the next day when he was hungrier before he took it. :p

Haha - I thought it was a pretty rude gesture. I find that nerite snails provide a nice variety in his diet (and they are cheaper than hermits).

Hurry up ike, I know you wanna do some pruning :lol2:

Andy

Andy,
Actually, now that the birdsnest has been relocated to the top of the reef spire, I don't know how often Ike will be up there to prune it...
Just let me know when you might be by and I will break if off for you. It's the least I can do after you lent me the flatworm exit - and found Ike!

Thanks Nanoman.

I was in to feed the tank yesterday and noticed that the sand was getting a slight brown tinge to it. I stirred it up again but I guess it's just a matter of time...

Update,

I just got my controller in the mail

Once I figure out how to wire my heater to it I will connect it to my intake hose and switch the tank over.

Thanks cluckr,
It usually takes me about a week of marking the water leveland changing the rate until I get it dialled in just right. After that, it stays quite stable, even day to day weather changes dont make a difference because it all averages out.
Cheers,

Thanks! I still need to move it over on my desk, but it is doing really well...
except for the damsel...
Ike ate him two days ago.
I guess that the fish just got too comfortable and too close. Poor little bugger.

Cam,
I actually thought that evertything was going to be fine. I think that the damsel just got too complascent over time and lowered his guard and got too close. The fact that Ike was probably hungry doesn't help...

rbrice,
Thanks dude
