when i set up my 70 gallon in my new apartment, i bought a tru vue 300 and started running a fuge. i started with a ball of cheato (from shane, tanx again buddy) the size of a fist. once the ball grew large enough to fill the designated compartment in the sump mywater quality has been pristine! i havent done a water change in 2 months (while testing 1-2 time weekly) and my nitrates are still at 0.0ppm. freakin awesome! i've always kept my nitrates low(.5ish) but have never been able to get them down to absolute 0 until now!

anything alive in the tank ?you didnt mention livestock at all .and sorry to add i would be doing water changes bi weekly or it will catch up with you sooner or later .there is nothing that can replace a waterchange in such a closed system as a fish tank .

its an sps dominant mixed reef with 3 tangs and a six line. i feed nore everyday and dose heavily with reef nutrition's line. i dont plan on giving up water changes.....i've just been really busy with the holidays and havent had time to do one in the last couple months and totally expected my nitrates to be a lot higher.

it must be the cheto =). +1 for the reef nutrition stuff...my tank is growing much better....i wish someone would have told me sooner.
