I use it on fish that are newly arrived and just as precaution on fish if they are acting funny. (assuming I have diagnosed whatever ailment it is correctly and have already dosed the appropriate meds for that) The directions on the bottle state in large systems that it can be left for 5 days before a water change so I'm not sure why it says to water change 25% everyday before the treatment for smaller volumes. I think you would be fine with using it in the TTM water for up to the 72 hr mark without a water change
