No darn luck with Nasos...

This is my second Naso tang. Apparently healthy for about two months, and then literally overnight, it's weak and then on the verge of dying. No signs or symptoms of disease. Was eating perfectly fine. Could people still be catching these beautiful fish with cyanide? Why am I having such bad luck with them?

Cyanide seems to be to blame for these sudden and unexplained deaths. Buddy of mine and I each purchased 3" blonde nasos and one died within a week and the other is fat and healthy for the past month and a half. We keep holding our breath this works out

Sigh... Derrick. This sucks. I hate knowing they're (any animal) dies under my care.

Mr. Steve- the only thing I know from my LFS is that they're coming from "the pacific". I would think Hawaii, but maybe not. This is the second one I've bought from them and they get them from the same wholesale place. Care to venture a guess as to why? :(

Its so disheartening and frustrating when a fish dies like this. I too bought a 7" blonde naso in March 2015 and it was apparently doing great and eating fine. Yesterday my bro found the fish died. All other fish seems to be doing great. Mine was probably from Srilanka.

I know the feeling all too well. It sucks and I'm sorry for your troubles with them. I have always wondered if the larger Nasos seem to succumb to the same fate as it seems a lot of the smaller ones do? Out of the 3 nasos I have tried, 2 didn't make it and the last one that was purchased is no longer mine and was never in my care

Just wanted to add my experience.

I purchased a 6 inch Blonde naso a few months back.

He broke out with what i believed was black ich. I treated two rounds of Prazi. He did well and the black ich appeared to be all clear. 3 or so days after the second round of Prazi and he was dead. He ate the entire time i had him, never showed any signs of being unhealthy other than the black ich, which i seemed to treat accurately.

It certainly could have been the Prazi treatments or black ich that did him in, but i have my doubts. He was going to be a show stopper.

I've had all sorts of trouble with Nasos as well. Had a blonde go through 12 weeks of QT only to die within a week once in the display. My current Naso (not a blonde) is doing OK, but I have it in my 90 gal 'grow out' tank until it gets a bit of heft to it.
