Well I have been battling to get my tank back to they way it was before losing everything.all may sps are growing very well but they all look very drab. I noticed for the first time that none of them have that florescent zoanthela in them anymore. I have good PE and they are groaning very well but noticed that when the blue only is on I don't see that florescent colors anymore. What causes this?
Thanks

Can you post pic's?

The zooxanthellae aren't really florescent. They're just kinda brownish. Under a microscope they sometimes have a glowing gold color, but you don't normally see this. The florescent colors we typically see are produced by the coral itself.

It's really hard to guess as to whats taking place without pic's of the coral.

I know exactly what you mean. My SPS are under T5's with a strip of Blue LED's. After a massive phosphate spike (0.12ppm) most of my SPS lost their green flourescence; even under the blue LED's only, the flourescence was absent.

Its taken me more than 2 months to bring back the colours, but also the flourescent pigments. I utilised GFO heavily; which did cause some paleness at first. I then started to dose KZ Amino acids (the concentrate) and Brightwells Koral Colour. So I cannot tell you which of those two contributed, but the colours are coming back very nice and under the LED's I can clearly see the corals flourescing.

I had the same problem, not sure what caused it but I started dosing cal and alk every day instead of whenever I got to it which was probably throwing the levels off. Started feeding coral frenzy, fuel amino acids, dosing mag
