Noise level and flow question

Hi,

I just got a Nanostream 6045 and a nanostream 6025 for my 75 gallon mixed reef and I had a couple of questions.

The 6025 is almost silent but the 6045 is rather loud. Considerably louder than the Koralias I'm replacing. So, how much noise do these pumps generally make?

Also, do you think these two pumps are too much for a 75 gallon tank? Maybe I need to play around a bit more with placement, but the softies I have at the opposite end of the tank from the 6045 seem to be getting beaten up a little.

Is the 6045 brand new, did you use the rubber tabs on the magnets? does it make noise if you hold the pump in your hand? If new may just need a couple days to wear in, they should be very quiet.

Hi. Thanks for the reply.

They both are brand new and I am using the rubber feet that came with them.

I took them both out of the tank and plugged them in, the 6025 is pretty much silent but the 6045 is louder. Although, not as loud as when it was in the tank.

I fiddled around with placement and it seems to have quieted down a bit. Perhaps it just needs a few days to "break in"?
