Noisy 6045

Roger,

I have brand new 6045 that has been running for a couple of weeks and it is making a rattling noise. I took it apart, cleaned it and reassembled it. It was better for a few hours and the rattle returned. There is no sand in the tank and it hasn't been running long enough for algae to grow on it.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Brand new doesn't give me a whole lot to go by because it may have sat in someones inventory for a while. The two things that could cause this are a broken or loose shaft, this was a problem we solved quite a while back so it is not likely. The shaft should be firmly installed in the motor, it is not removable and not replaceable. The other cause that is more likely is that a small stainless steel washer is on the shaft under the drive unit. Sometimes it comes off the shaft if the drive unit is removed and is loose in the pump. It just needs to be reinstalled on the shaft.

Roger,

The washer was in place, but was fouled with a bit with calcium and some generic crud. I cleaned it up and it is working fine.

I rinsed it out the first time, but I didn't take a good look at the washer.

Thanks for the help!

Adam
