Nominations for Member at Large

Lance A. Lot

SLASH Member
Please volunteer or nominate a willing member of SLASH to be our next Member at Large. Candidates should be willing to preform the duties of Member at Large for a full term (1 year). Please make sure your nomination is willing to fulfill the duties before nominating in this forum. Nominations will be open until Friday June 9th or until we have at least one willing candidate. Then voting will open Friday until Monday night on the 12th.

Member-at-Large:
Described as a tie-breaker vote in the bylaws and little else; However, this position has developed over time to become a "œnew membership ambassador" of sorts.

All Board Members:
All officers should stay regularly involved with the functions of the club, voice opinions, throw out ideas, and help organize events. Many hands make light work and initiative by every officer is key to the club's success.

I've talked with pepino who would be willing to serve, he's been an active member here with SLASH for several years.

Since we have numerous great candidates it may be hard for some members to decide who to vote for. Candidates may want to tell us a little about themselves, what hobby experience they have, what their favorite style of pizza is, maybe a link to a build thread... etc...

Ill chime in on Lance A. Lot's interrogation.

Started my first FOWLR tank 20+ yrs ago back when a 'skilter' was acceptable filtration. Honestly dont remember the fish I had in there as it only lasted a few months before my then wife and I separated.

My next trip into reefing was 15 or so years ago when I converted my now wife's 55g into a reef. This is back when an LFS was more interested in the sale than husbandry. Cant begin to count the number of corals I killed due to putting them in a tank with fluorescent strip lighting. All the while being encouraged by the store that it should thrive.

Finally, after moving to STL, I set up a 55g then moved it to my present system. 2x 125g in walls with an ~80g frag and ~80g sump My husbandry skills have improved quite a bit since the beginning and when i look back to those days I shake my head and wonder how the hobby survived with the mortality rates I remember friends and I had due to bad advice or no reference material.

Now Pizza. This, this, CRAP you guys in the STL call pizza is by no means pizza. The cheese places like Imos puts on it is closer in consistency to yogurt or baby food. One of the most vilest things ever. Want good pizza? Go abut 5 hours north to Rock Island, IL and try Harris. Or New York/Jersey style. Thats the **** right there.

I seldom drink Tequila, and when I do it is clear and not yellow (sorry Cuervo). Makes me sick. Only 2 types of whiskey drinkers. Angry drunks and Stupid drunks. I fall into the latter plus it gives me terrible heartburn. My liquid intoxicant of choice is Vodka. A nice smooth vodka is hard to beat.

So there it is. Me in a nutshell. Atleast the important points.

I'm Brandon and I used to have a used tank addiction. I'm over that now and am pretty close to having a functional display tank up and running! :deadhorse: It's been almost 3 years of building this system to where I want it and what else my wife wanted done around the house. Here is a link to the build thread. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2435197
It is up to date and definitely needs some pictures. Any feedback is good feedback so don't be shy to tell me what you think of it.

I've been in the hobby for around 4 years. I bought a nano off a used car dealer that had been setup for several years in his office. I still have that pair of clownfish and cabbage coral that was in that tank. They will be going into my display or at least the clams will.

The night after I bought the tank I went to a pizza night and ordered some moscatto and meatballs and got to know everyone. We went and looked at 2 systems that night! I was hooked and needed a bigger tank. I bought a half dozen or so and setup a 90. A couple of years later I broke that down to put down new flooring.

I might not know as much as some people on here but I can probably tell you where to find any answers. Make sure to come out to a pizza night and get to meet us in person. It's also great getting to see how others run their tanks.

Good luck to everyone and all members very over to the slash site and Vote!

I'm Brian and I moved to Saint louis after school and started with 2 small night stand Betta tanks. This escalated quickly to near 10 tanks in a small apartment. The lady friend quickly nixed that but it was okay because I kept moving apartments. I maintained my interest in fw tanks but visiting all the local lfs I had to try saltwater. I bought an established biocube 29 but couldn't resist and went to a custom 40b/40b setup. I moved apartments again and now run an 80 gal and kept the 40b sump.

I love the diy and technology aspect of reefing and have since set up automated water changes and full dosing automation. I love mixed reefs with heavy sps and I think the challenge of sps keeps me always in the game. I go to a lot of the lfs for fun when I can.

I have a crazy schedule so I haven't been to a pizza night yet admittedly. But looking forward to a time when I can. I love talking about the hobby and looking at what everyone has and their insight into everything.

As for the pizza I like it all. Maybe not necessarily imos unless I'm sfd but I'm addicted to sauce on the side and pi pizza; actually maybe deweys too.

Looking at this I'll probably have to post a build thread but my current 80 tank is already 6 months old.

I'm looking forward to working and hanging out with everyone regardless.

My vote could possibly be swayed by swag. I'm a size 38; like computers, long walks, and a good long chat filled with deep heartfelt moments shared over Earl-grey.

Let's cut to the chase. Can your vote be bought by a shot of Jack Daniels? If the answer is yes, then feel free to buy me one next pizza night for your vote. I CAN be bought. Let's make this club great again!
