non attatching anemone

I have this bubble anemone that has been in the same spot for almost a year. All of a sudden it let go and has been floating around the tank. It finds a spot, settles, but never attaches. Then a day or two later "floats"(water moves it) around and settles in another spot. Not once in a month has it attached and extended. It eats great and tenecles are full and long, and sticky, but the back is flat and round and has stayed that way. Any ideas? Tina

You know I was just looking in my tank between the rocks and it looks like a part of the foot was left in the rocks. Not sure if I can get a pic because it is in the rock work. I dont think it got pinched off but ......it kinda looks like it wants to inflate.....if that makes any sense. Strange.....Tina

The only thing that has change is I ran out of kalk and have not added calcium in a couple of week and my alk is kinda low. I have 3 other anemones that are doing wonderful. Tina

Looks like the foot got ripped off. The BTA that had this happen will probably never attach again...your best best is to put it in a low flow area inside a basket of some sort. It is possible that if it splits the foot may come back, not sure. The one thing you may have happen is the foot may regenerate a new anem from it. If that foot part has still been attached for the last month, this is a good sign that it might continue to grow.

How sad :( The anemone itself is doing great. I have it in a low flow area and it is opened big. The foot wont regenerate on the anemone? Not sure how this all happen...no rock slide or movement that I know of. The left over piece, I will keep a close eye on. It does look like it wants to inflate. Thanks....Tina
