lately my anemone been acting a tad odd and im not sure whats going on?

at night he seems to totally deflate and shrinks down to about a 3" circle totally closed up....during the day expands to about a 6-7" top. now all color seems good still very very red still.

i was feeding him silversides every other day probably about half of one thawed out.

i plan to do a water change tonite 5gallon....

any ideas?

I have an anemone that sucks itself completely into a rock at night and is fully extended during the day.

How was it acting before? Mine shrink down every evening then before lights off inflates again. Sounds like normal behavior. How long have you had this feeding schedule? it's got a lot to digest and eliminate 1 1/2 silverside a week. You mention water change have you tested lately. They need pristine water. Need more information, how has behavior changed?

Just to let you know what just happened to me. My GBTA that I was telling you about above did something today to freak my GF out. I am half way across the country but the GF calls me up thinking the anemone is dead and afraid that it will contaminate the tank she says he is going to take it out. I ask her what it is doing and she says it is all sucked in the rock and looks limp after the lights were on for a few hours which wasn't normal. I told her to just check the parameters and they came back all fine. I told her to just relax and let it do its things. Well she just called me about 10 minutes ago and said "everything is fine, he is all bubbly like normal". If your water parameters are right, it is eating, and nothing is attacking it then just let its do its thing.

Picture she sent me today. If you look closely the anemone I am talking about is buried in the rocks and you can barely see its tentacles:

Here he is normally:
