Just put in a nice order of exotic corals...should be here in two weeks. I need to find a nice carpet anemone for the clowns.

I have around 10+ little frags in the tank as of now with 40ish fish. My ORP with no UV or Ozone has been stable at 405 for last 2 weeks (since the BK came online). I honostly don't think I will need UV or Ozone for a while, but I would like it online and ready to go just in case.

One sidenote:

The fish in the last 2-3 weeks have become mutch more vivid in coloration. I can now see purples, reds, pinks, and blues on the Anthias that were not there two weeks ago. The only thing that has changed is the lighting (Lumenbrights vs Luminarcs). But I think most of the reason has to do with constant feeding (1x vs 3x/day) and clean water.

So...don't hold out on us...whatcha get??????? :)

Actually, I'm not sure. :) I sent this guy a list of 100+ corals I wanted (all of em pretty crazy) and he picked out 33 of the best of those. I will get 15 hand-picked "cherry" corals from the aquaculture facility in Bali (I think)...I will get actual colonies too for frag pricing. That way I will cut a couple frags off and can trade, sell, whatever. The guy I'm buying from has access to anything, so I can only guess what he will pick for me.

so you are getting them directly from the Wholesaler then??? That is pretty cool....I will most likely be up there (at the latest) next May for the Fargo Marathon, so I will have a few exotics for you as well

LE Incredible Hulk
LE 20K Lokani
LE True Undata
LE Purple Monster
LE Ponape Birdsnest
A few exotic LPS (from pics above)

Probably a few more by then as well!! :)

My sister lives in Isle, MN. Just up the road from you. The next time I'm over that way (monthly) I will bring some frags for trade.

I am getting corals from a guy with a million connections. Anything I ever need, I talk to him.

Frag tank is plumbed and racked! I removed the sand, made a manifold off the return pipe to feed the carbon and calcium reactors, built a egg crate racking system, and plumbed in the kalk reactor. Now I just need a bunch of frags and I should be done.

The hospital tank is plumbed and aquascaped with sand and rock. I will dose kalk via a litermeter III or tunze auto top off (I have both). I was actually thinking of using the Tunze ATO on the 600 to dose RO (non-kalk based). I will also use the hospital tank as a large frag overflow tank which leads to me in the direction of the litermeter so I can dose two part.

I should have the Ozone Reactor early next week. I will plumb that and the UV at the same time and slowly work those two into the system. I finally put the BK 300 online today and WOW is that thing a BEAST!!! I am going to just say that is THE best single piece of equipment I own. Those two BK's are absolute workhorses!!

Of course I will post pictures tonight...I just had to post my thoughts first!

with the tank having a clear/see through background while you are in the fish room, can you see through it when you are standing outside the room looking at the tank or did you trat the back pane of acrylic with something??

Looks Good!!

My intentions were to either have a mirror back, some kind of fabric back, or a an acylic back. The mirror would have the most "wow" effect. The fabric would be the easiest to roll up and down, and the acrylic would let the corals "pop". Right now the see-through effect takes away from the overall beauty of the tank.

At least you have given it some thoughts....I have always thought that having an inwall tank would be really hard if you had a solid black back in the fish room and your tank is as wide as it is.

Personally, I would go for the roll-up back of some sort

you could do an acrylic back cut in half. That way the seam will be hidden by the center plumbing. Bend the acrylic to hang on the back of the tank. That way you get the wow effect for the corals but still are able to easily remove the panes for servicing... You could also just cut and glue (Weld-On) the pieces to make the hanger but bending is more fun...:)

I would thing the roll up idea could get really dirty, really fast. Also it would probably be harder to clean. This might be cheaper than the acrylic idea though.

If you ever need a hand with anything give me a call.

I was thinking either mirror or acrylic...actually they have mirrored acrylic. I was the going to attach it via velcro or a ledge (like u explained above).

Any reason you used sand in your frag tank?

Room looks great. I really like the idea of the dual BKs. How come you didn't get a cheaper skimmer to run the ozone through?

Make sure to post pics of your corals when you get them. I'm always looking for a good supplier.

I didn't know they had mirrored acrylic... you learn something new every day...:)

It would be pretty easy to see which one you like best. Take a larger mirror and a piece of black tag board and set them at the back of the tank. A large door mirror from Wal-Mart would at least give you the size needed to see if you like that look. Set them both at the back of the tank (at the same time for comparison) and take a look from the front.

Either way, whatever you decide to go with will look amazing anyway...:).

You could also use black vinyl sheeting for the back.

BTW, myself and other local reef keepers have done some "testing scenarios" on egg crate and feel we have definitively linked it to nuisance algal growth. I will never use it in any of my tanks again.

Chris - I used sand for the hospital tank, not frag tank...Also, I did buy an ozone reactor setup that does not run through my skimmers. I would rather buy good, high quality products than "junk" or "cheap" products. I am sure you could go either way, but I prefer quality.
