Got done talking to Curt just now...The metal tip is meant to be exposed. I did not calibrate the pH with the temp probe...IDIOT!

I then proceeded to calibrate pH probe WITH temp probe and "wouldn't ya know it" it works!! 8.10 @ 79.8 degrees.

I also cleaned the ORP probe with a tooth brush and now my reading is around 312.

Wow, I am glad I didn't blow it and do some crazy stuff last night. My fish would have hated me!

So good news is everything is working except my conductivity probe (which like Jon said "get a drip cup")...How would be the best way to do that?

Yay! Glad to hear everything was alright! I'll have to keep the calibration with the temp probe in mind when I get my AC Jr.

nah not an idiot, You saw the issue and came to the right place to get more information. It was figured out before anything drastic was done.

I ran into the same thing where my first kit started reading 8.8 which was the max value for the kit. I tested and tested and still came back with that number but saw no issues with the fish or corals. I came online to RC and people told me to get a different kit. Guess what, the new kit read 8.2. Much better...:). I learned quickly that before making any drastic changes come to RC... the people here can really help when an emergency is looming...

I do have spare stuff so if you ever run into an issue like this just give me a call. I can run over there with spare kits or parts to help out wherever I can.

if you suspect stray electical current you can put a little tank water in a cup and use your probe to test away from the tank

uh, I don't get that.

Here is how I did my drip cup. It is supplied from a John Guest bulkhead in my overflow:

I am pretty sure he means check the Ph of the water away from the possible stray current.

Well, you are moving forward and why keep it if you can't get it to work? Someone will mess with it and get it to work, or just think it works. I seriously considered picking it up just to mess with, but I have so much on my plate right now, I passed. Probably a good opportunity but hopefully it will go to a good home.

Anyway, lesson from your probe incident: You cannot trust them and all roads lead to the temp. probe. :D

For something so expensive you'd think you could plug it in, set the pumps and let it be. Oh well at least it is sold and you are off to bigger and better things!

That thing was a monster skimmer though...:)

glad to hear you got rid of that thing....I bet it had to be kind of sad to see it just sitting there, gathering dust

Fishroom was throughly cleaned today and lights arranged in a more professional looking manner. I also hooked up the lunar sim 5 LED and it looks pretty cool.

Oh its 12:06 and i just realized i'm 30!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, yes I'm wiser!

I might do a shot.

Anyway, I have a bit more programming to accomplish and the system should be pretty much automated.
