EnglishRebel: Those are nicely done, but again, on a system th esize of mine, I would not trust it. I realize in 99% of situations that would be OK, but that's not what happenes here.

What would happen here is tube worms and coraline algae would clog the pipe where the John Guest elbows attach, and it wouldn't work at all. The way mine is set up, it is a 1" open line, above the water. When you have the luck this Irish Jew has, you learn to multiply everything by 10.

Check valves? No way Jose.

I agree. The key though is that the pipe is visible and every time you look at the tank if water is coming out then it's clear. Of course if you are away for a while it could block. Just one of those things to check daily by whomever is looking after the tank.
I do have a check valve on the supply but as we know they too can be blocked by a snail. Of course for you to have a problem, the pipe would have to be blocked at the same time the check valve is stuck open and a power failure occurs. Mr. Murphy will you please stand up.

I will probably add a 1/2" RO line out the top on both sides. That shouldn't get clogged.

The change will allow for two MAJOR upgrades...

The First...A 2nd RO/DI Tank (maybe full of ready-to-go saltwater)

The Second...Easier access to the BK Skimmers.

***Also, as you can see I have extra wall space. I might use part of the space for a cryptic fuge (like 50-75 gallons).

I also added another 3 stages to my RO/DI unit...Two carbon and one 5 micron...This is all PRE-RO/DI.

Oh and your probably wondering where the Frag tanks are? They are waiting for the tile to get done and then I will set them up again...Man that was a bear to tear it down by myself today!

Nothing is new. I will take some more photos of the corals tomorrow once I get everything re-organized. I need to do some shifting around in the tank as well with some corals. I got some more glue to better place some of the corals.

Hey - I've really enjoyed your thread!

I'm considering running a pair of BK's on a 700g system. 70" x 60" x 20" display with a pair of 150g fuges (one cryptic and one lit). I already own a BK 300 External and am thinking of throwing a SM 250 into the sump.

Any tips for setting this up? Was there a reason you didn't get two of the same kind? Does it help for one to take the lead and the other to pick up the scraps?

I guess I could also consider the new cone skimmer, which may be enough and obviously is a different animal with different strengths from the 300 Deluxe...

The main reason I went with a 300 and 250 was space (fit perfectly in the dual compartment sump). I do like how the 300 will take the majority of crap out of the water and the 250 will polish the water just a bit more...It does get a supply of its own water, but also gets the skimmed water from the 300 too.

I have not had one problem with my BK's and love the amount of garbage they pull out of the water. I also have ozone (only 200mg), UV (only 80W), refugium (45g), DeNitrator (rated for 500g), and an extra 100lbs of live rock in my sump for nutrient control. I don't run anything at an extreme and hope that they all play a part in keeping my tank pest free, nutrient low, and healthy. I would like to set-up a 75 gallon add-on (by-passed and before my skimmers) cryptic fuge for more diversity.

cool. thanks for the full scoop. i don't know whether my cryptic zone and fuge will really work, but i like the idea of having extra compartments for flexibility. so if they don't, i'll have extra frag tanks and such.

i'm trying to decide between pairing up my current 300 deluxe with a SM 250 or the new BK cone.
