North Dakota Mini-Ocean

You're gonna have to pay admission to see the ABT!

So glad they made it safe and sound. That was the biggest stress point of my tank break-down. And a word of advice to anyone shipping fish:

1. It is much cheaper to send via airline, but you must be a "known shipper" so please make sure that you either qualify, or you get help from someone who is.

2. Ship with oxygen. Blue was shipped with 1/3 water and 2/3 oxygen. Even better would be less water, and never ship at, near, or above 50/50. If you don't have oxygen, just get it. You can find it at any gas supplier, welding supply, etc.

BTW, under my 20K lamps, the ABT literally glowed bright blue edges and lines. Try it, you'll like it! :D

Congrarulations!

I have hoped that Jonathan's ABT would end up here for some time now. Great aquisition!

Now, all you need is a Clarion!

Hey, BTW, did you get the seaweed? I think i put a package of the Dulse in with the fish right? But I forgot to shred it?

Jonathan- I did get the algea and it seems to be shredded already. Big blue seems to be adapting well to his new environment and tankmates. He was a little beat up in the transport (ie cut fins, scratches on nose and mouth) but on a few weeks he will be back to show condition. He really is a stunning fish! I do think he will have streamers in time.

It seems like I have found a "sweet spot" in the calibration of my calcium and kalk reactors. Corals are growing new tips each week and color is ever-improving. I think the color improvement has 90% to do with jonathan's help with my food. Not only are the coral colors improving, but my fish are vivid! I had a couple friends over today and one comment that stuck out was one about how deeply colored the fish were. So I went back and looked at some pictures before the new food and I can see noticeable difference.

I am going to remove all the rock in the sumps. It seems to be doing more harm than good. I can see a lot of detrius build up and I have a feeling that is holding me back from achieving zero nitrates and phosphates. I am still going to have both sumps full of cheato and a small portion of one act like a crypic fuge.

Lastly, I have 3 more fish coming in this week. Crosshatch Trigger pair and a Goldflake Angel. My black tang order got put on hold until end of June and the wholesaler I'm dealing with gave me a sweet deal on these 3 in the meantime. The Gem Tang will probably ship 5th or 6th of June and conspic should be the following week.

I agree on the sump deal. I just acumulated to much detritus and removed mine very early on. I am a fan of completely bare sumps.

The seaweed comes kind of pieced but not really shredded. Smaller fish have a problem with it, but since yours are decent sized, maybe not a big deal.

Crosshatches are awesome fish. Very well-mannered if I'm not mistaken.

Depend on the fish IMO. I was at the LFS getting ready to bag one up but he bit my finger so hard he took a big chunk of skin as well as my finger nail :(

Yeah, doesn't surprise me. Triggers are still triggers in the end. Still very cool fish.

Don't get me wrong it is a beautiful fish...
