yoccm: Tank was around $2800 and shipping was like $200 or $300. A.G.E. delivered the tank to my LFS. I paid my LFS in vermillion to deliver the tank to my stand in the basement. Getting the tank delivered to my stand was worth the extra money. It was a little tricky getting the tank down the stairs so I was glad to have experienced people doing it and taking the responsibility.

Little update. Wednesday I completed my upgraded refugium. I increased the volume from 19 to 50 gallons using a 50 gallon rubbermaid tub. I wanted more room for a larger chaeto ball and more surface area for gas exchange.
Parameters have all been stable except fo temp. My nightly temp started to bottom out at 74 which at first sounded ok. After I read a little more it made me nervous so I readjusted my heaters and added one. I am no running 5 heaters. I run multiple heaters to guard against over cooking or over chilling in the case of malfunction. I have a pretty open weekend so I plan on posting new pics soon.

So its been a few months. Figured I would snap a few pics to show some progress. I haven't done too much with the tank over the summer. Spent most of the summer trying to figure out the basement humidity problem. I will be posting more since the outside weather is begining to change for the colder and it is going to get tougher to golf.

I replaced my lights last week...all of them. And man what a difference. The color had shifted more then I would have guessed. My T5's and MH were about 14 months old. I know, way overdue to change. I replaced my Radium 20k's with the same. I replaced my T5 454's with Giesemann PowerChrome Actinic+ bulbs. The Actinic plus bulbs are a darker blue then the 454's were which is what I wanted.
I cut back on my light MH light cycle to 3 hours to break my corals in to the new lights. I have been increasing 30 minutes every 4 days or so. I will be up to 4 hours today. My plan is to get the MH cycle to 6 hours on which is were I had it before.
Corals are looking good so far. No changes besides the fact that the corals look better under the color of the new bulbs.
I recently upgraded my Ca and Alk jugs from 1 gallon to 7 gallons. I am adding about 250ml of each per day with my BRS dosers. I was getting tired of making Ca and Alk every month. 7 gallons of each should give me some time in between.
The best thing of all is that my stand did not fall over, or lean, or crack. That actually was a worry of mine :beer:

Tank's looking very nice as always! I like the updated photos and progression shots. I ventured into the sps scene as well and corals are starting to take off, we should trade corals sometime.
Is the exhaust fan not cutting it with the humidity, I'm pretty surprised. That thing looked like a work horse!!

Thanks Tim. I am always into trading corals. What sps do you have in your tank? Do you have any pics?
As for the exhaust fan...I got a bigger one and still had problems. I finally found that leaving my basement door open the hot moist air would rise up the strairs and into my first floor. It would always feel so humid at the top of the stairs and now it is much better. Humidity is usually 55 to 60 now which is exceptable.

So my Super Reef octopus 6000 int was becoming very moody and would overflow once a day. I couldn't figure anything out....until now. I think I got it. Right on top of the pump is a bubble spreader/flow diffuser seen below.
This is what it looks like out of the skimmer
There are hole all over the round piece of plastic except for that one triangle shaped area where it is solid. After awhile I noticed that this area may have signifigance and moved it so it was over the output from the pump. It has been two days and no overflows. Also, I notice my skimmer is foaming through the neck more calmly and fluctuates a lot less. In fact, it doesn't really fluctuate at all. Hope this helps someone. It has been really frustrating dealing with an overflowing skimmer. I just emptied the collection cup and the skimate smelled like it used too. :inlove:
