How would you all react to this reply from Craiglist:

Hello,
I'm jerry am mailing regarding your item you posted on
craigslist for selling.......i like its condition and i wish to have
it.....for now i would not want you to welcome any other buyer 'cause
am buying it.

For the payment,i will give you 100% advance payment thru my
salary check which will come from my boss.......to process the check
payment,i would want you to kindly forward your informations such as:
1.Your full name to be on the check.
2.Your postal address.
3.Your postal code
4.Your mobile phone number (For easier comunications).

I replied:
I either would take Cash or Paypal. I won't take checks of any kind.
Nothing personal but checks are frequently fraudulent.

He Replied:
ok i can send u money still i mail u cash ok send the necessary info

this exact same message has appeared in many craigs list replys, it is fraudulant and should not even be replied to. These people are scammers. If he is going to mail you cash, does he expect you to mail all of your equipment? Isnt the pourpose of craigs list so local people buy your stuff?

P.S. Glad your not leaving the hobby.....too many of those threads already!!!

That post is such a scam. It's like the one's where you're supposed to an international funded check and you write the balance amount back to the buyer...ummm yeah ....sure....right.

Arggh

I Should have included the specs for the lighting. The double ballast powers 4 * 96 Watts of PC lighting. Was enough for a really nicely lit softie/lps tank with a few SPS at high under the area where the bulbs overlap.

I'll accept good offers of course.
-Adrian

Bump. Anyone interested? No offer is sneered at but I'd rather sell to a BAR member. Don't make me ebay this stuff please.

I have to pay for that ATI Bubblemaster you know :)
-Adrian

I've had an (craigslist) offer on the lights to which I suggested a slightly higher amount. If he accepts that, I'll sell to him.... but feel free to come in with an offer here in case he doesn't

sorry, i too am in the market for new stuff, but bigger then you have.

hope you get the bubblemaster, thats what i hope to upgrade to.

BE CAREFUL WHEN REPLYING to those scam emails from craigslist. Especially when they are not local, but from an international location where hackers are trying to gather any information they can get from you. I had a friend who just answered, local pickup with cash only and next thing he found out is his PayPal account was broken into and almost $2,000 was spent within a day from his account. This happens when your email address that you reply from is the same as your PayPal email address and the password on your email address is also the same as your PayPal password. He has since changed his password on his PayPal account and that hasn't happened again. The PayPal rep was the one who advised the passwords be different as hackers can gain access to email passwords very easily.

Getting back to the topic. Good luck with your sales. Great skimmer you got there! I still haven't seen one running yet.

I work for PayPal :) I'd hate to get my account ripped off, i'd never live it down if I got compromised.

If you get hacked remotely, they often figure it out and stop any payments. My password is not easily hackable but I appreciate the heads up.

-Adrian

My impressions of the Bubblemaster so far are it would skim a fresh water tank. I've never seen so many bubbles.

I wanted to ask paypal employee for so long ... Paypal locked my account up. I opened another one and they locked it again. The reason because ... I have some transaction few hundred bucks and they want to know where are those coming from (They want me to provide receipt where I bought it from so I can sell to other). They still charged me the fee and locked my account up. Why paypal did that? I wish there is another alternative to paypal.

Sory for hijack your threat but honestly I hate paypal ehehehe

Let me answer in generalities. PayPal is very concerned about fraud. It is why they still exist. There are a lot of fraud models that cause accounts to be locked or restricted. I've had a restriction myself and it doesn't matter that I work here.

Work with support to understand what is the problem with your account.

We should not discuss your case in a public forum though and I don't know all the rules anyway.

One thing though. PayPal employees go to jail if they ignore suspicious activity... regardless of the fact the activity may turn out innocent. It's the law. So don't be too harsh on them.

-Adrian

There are alternatives. Just not very good ones

No Pump, it kinda works but frequently failed to start if I powered down, so I chucked it.

Here's the skimmer:

Works really well but I felt I had to spend way more and buy a bubble master.
