Im finding that continuing the use of the ventilation fan through winter is a good idea. In the past I would turn it off in the winter because I didnt want the cold air comming in. Turning it off was a mistake. Now my humidity levels are in check the only downside is the cooler air tends to drop inside temps a little but I still dont have to actually heat the air as it hasnt gone below 74 in there even on the coldest nights weve had. The 2- 1000w heaters are doing their job just fine.

TEMPS.

TEMPS.

Great thread. Been following for awhile. What are you nightime temps in the winter? 40's - 50's? I'm wondering if there similar to our nightime desert conditions. In the winter our humidity goes up quite a bit.

winter temps are in the 30's at night. I have a thick concrete floor that helps maintain some heat at night . The double wall poly panels help keep the heat in as well:D Humidity isnt your friend at all. It will rain down on all electronics.

mangroves are doing well

mangroves are doing well

All of the mangroves I put into my system are doing good ,or at least I see new red roots growing. I tried some with leaves and just the pods as well. Pods seem to adapt better

Wow redox...what a system!! All the corals look GREAT. The whole thing is very inspirational. I live in NC also and was wondering if myself and a friend of mine might be able to come down and see your setup sometime after the New Year?? We don't get to see too many setups anywhere near as nice as yours. Thanks for sharing all your ups and downs.

frag racks

frag racks

wow, what a difference these new racks make. Not only does it look better but the flow has increased . The fact that I cleaned my tunzes helps as well. I actually had to decrease the flow on the tunzes. I also had to lower the vat level so the water wouldnt splash out:D

:D Must be rack making week!! hehe... They look nice, Macho's layout is really nice, I like the levels. I'm actually waiting on some pvc to dry right now so I can paint it. My new racks will be based off of my original 'floating rack' design where the rack is suspended by fishing line from the top of the tank. Not all of us have MONSTER VATS to put our racks in ;). I'll post some pics in my thread later today.

Lookin good Redox!! Looking real damn good!! :D

Thanks rustyb I have been waiting for some updated pics of your sunroom project. I have had great success with mangrove growth. Even the mangroves that apear to be dead seem to come back to life eventually . This mangrove has fallen over and has coraline growing on it from saltwater splash
