My wife and I were in Seattle a couple months ago and we were walking through Pioneer Square. We were able to watch a UPS man in the back of his truck shuffling the packages around and what we saw made us never want to have anything shipped UPS ever again. He was purposefully dropping packages from 4 feet and then started tossing them from the back to the front of his truck. I probably shouldn't stereotype UPS because of this but I have always had better luck with Fedex. I'm glad Jeremy made things right for you!

+1 UPS would deliver 2'x4' light fixtures to my work with foot prints in the middle of them just smashed in the center. I think they are trained to do it. I always use FedEx or USPS myself.

i recieved my nova extreme pro with ups and there was a huge foot print on the middle of the box and the bulbs were shattered. I had the package insured. I called them numerous times and they said that I would recieve a call back before the end of the buisness day, low and behold I never did and I was told that everyday for a week. So I called there corporate office and told them what was going on, they gave me the number of the UPS site that was going to deal with the damaged package. Finally after calling them 3 times during the week, they finally answered the phone. I explained everything to them and they said that there damage i nspector would call me to stop by and see the damage. well never recieved a phone call and then 1 day while I was at work the UPS driver showed up and my wife was the only one home. So the guy took the package to his inspector,(leaving the box with the footprint on it at my house. then after 2 days they denied my claim saying it was due to insufficent packaging. I called the corporate office back and complained and asked why my caim was denied for insufficent packaging when the main box was sitting in my house with the big footprint on it. Also the lights were packaged in 3 seperate boxes with bubble rap between each box and the [acaking peanuts in with the light. So finally after complaning I finally granted me the full insurance amout which was 400. So basically I had to buy 2 new bulbs and I got 400. Basicallhy a free light for me. Too bad it took over a month to settle the claim. Long story short I basically refuse to deal with UPS. They are horrible.

Guys,

For every story that is told about UPS, I hear the exact same thing for FedEx, USPS, and DHL when they were doing domestic packages. We have used them all over the years, and while UPS can be rough with packages, there is no other company out there that can compete with their on-time delivery. We can pack a little better to handle rough packaging, and get the products to the consumer safe and sound. However, if the package is misrouted, stuck in some location in the middle of nowhere, or just completely lost then there isn't much we can do.

One thing I have found is that a lot of these carriers seem to better with handling in certain areas. For example, I know that a lot of New York City area customers do not like UPS' handling of packages, while in the midwest and southeast our customer's do not want anything to do with the other companies.

It's the opposite here. FedEx is horrible whereas UPS is great. I guess it depends on the actual people doing the job.
