Now it's my 6201 broken

Obsessed Reefer
Last night I noticed my 6201's are not pumping. There is light on the adapter.
I pulled the pump for some Vinegar cleaning. No Luck still. I did notice the pump start for a few seconds but it turned off.

Now my 300G is in trouble with 2 Tunze down in 2 Months. I did not get support for the other broken pump either & now I'm seriously concerned.

I have 9 Tunze Pumps, between 2 tanks & had only minor problems till recently, but now it looks like I'm jinxed with no pumps & no support.

Roger, What are my options? Any reason for this failure. I use the pumps on Apex EB8 connected to a surge protector connected to GFCI. Still 2 Tunze pumps broken.

I am not sure what you mean by a lack of support? You last post was in regards to a 6100, a pump that has not been made since early 2007 and is out of warranty, so there is no warranty support, correct, however there is a substantially discounted upgrade option to a new pump. The same would apply to the 6201, which is again out of warranty having not been made since mid 2008. The cost of the upgrades is marginally more than the cost of replacing the bad part would be. I am happy to take a look at these pumps and there is possibly a cheaper repair option, but they are past the 2 year warranty so unless there is a bad power supply or locked up drive unit, the upgrade is the only viable option.

Roger,
I understand the warranty policy (Not sure if this is followed new though). Being mechanical parts they are bound to break sometimes. But this is what I though differentiated between other cheap brands with Tunze. I honestly expected the life on the pumps/support to be longer.
With all due respect, If the life of a Tunze is 3-4 years & warranty is 2 years, I could very well buy cheaper re-circ pumps & replace them every year. I know you will say this is my problem or option, but my question is up until a last year Tunze has this sensational support. It was worth spending extra money just for the peace of mind in Tunze product just by it's support. But today it seems like a whole another story.

At the least if there was a reason for the failure, this could have been prevented.

Is brand Tunze getting weaker in the market?

5+ years is the target life span of major parts, these pumps possibly fell short, for that I am sorry, I don't have date codes or more info, so the 6100 could very well have met its target life they were made from 2002-2007 and when the parts were available they could be repaired for about $100, repairs had no added warranty. Instead we are now offering a brand new 6105 pump and power supply and clamp with 2 year warranty for about $230, I think this is an extremely fair offer. Regarding the 6201, this was a very expensive motor, when it was discontinued it was $342.78, and instead, we are offering to upgrade you to 6205 and in this case the power supply is the same so it a pump and clamp for $266.29, I just don't see how we are not keeping up our end of the bargain.

You are right, if controllable is not important to you, non controllable pumps have no bells or whistles and last forever, ours do as well, you rarely see posts about problems with them and when there are a $15 part solves it. But if you step back and think about what is involved in a controllable pump, it is essentially two coils, the basic computers of the electronic ignition from your car, transformer, all expected to do 24/7 duty in a harsh saltwater environment, most auto ignition systems don't last that long and work far less hours in a far milder environment. I am willing to bet none of our competition in this niche have a longer or cheaper service life nor do they continue the service with a discount well after the warranty has ended.

Fair enough, but from what I understood earlier, it sounded I have to buy an upgrade kit to 6100.015.
I'm not sure if the 6201 motor is gone, but the only option I though was buy an Upgrade kit.
Either ways, I felt the support you offered last year seemes a lot different from today. I might be wrong. It is just that 2 Tunze's blew on me in less than a month got me a little too concerned.
Like I said, I have 2 large systems & too much dependent on power heads.

Can I send you the pumps? or How do we handle this?

Yes, send them and if there is another option besides the upgrades listed above, that is less expensive, I will certainly let you know.
