Yes that will be strong enough, you can click on my red house and see how I built mine. Different detentions but it's overkill and plenty strong.

I use tremclad rust paint and rolled it on with a tiny cloth roller, works great along with the other suggestions you have received.

Looking forward to following along.

Thanks for the input cprowler. I see you are from vancouver, have you been to JL aquatics' retail store? If you have, what's it like?

I was debating on a PBT or an Achilles Tang both i hear are prone to Ick. But i think they are beautiful anyway.:D

The most important thing for powder blues is quarentine and excellent feeding, they need alot of high quality foods to keep their immune system up to the challenge of keeping the ich away.

Hundreds of times :) , it's the most complete reef store we have. I'm not sure what your asking but I have had no problem with them and would recommend them. I prefer Ocean Aquatics and would probably put Hidden Reef 3rd.

Ocean Aquatics

J&L Aquatics

Hidden Reef

I've ordered livestock and dry good from jl, and have found them to be nothing short of excellent, i was merely curious if their retail store had the selection and service of the web based store.

Yea, I know it will get Ich, but they are so beautiful I wanted to try it at least once. If the fish does not surive, then I will not get another one. But I wanted to try at least. Achillies are beautiful too.

So i got around to putting the first coat of paint on the tank today. I used roll-on rust paint, and it seems to be working well.

Looks good! Love black painted backs.

Thank you! :D I feel it gives the best contrast with the fish and corals in front of it. I would have prefered to spray it on, but i live in a condo, so fumes and overspray were big concerns. What i wouldn't give for a garage sometimes.

Yea, I agree the black pops everything the best and just looks good. Yea, the fumes from the paint are really bad. Cool the rolling worked for you :) Maybe we'll try that next time.

Where did you get the tank, how much for? I'm wanting to take my 75 up to a 125.

I got it from my LFS here in Halifax. I paid 750 canadian which is pretty standard here. It is a Perfecto 125. Tanks are much, much cheaper south of the border. I would have gone to maine to get the tank, but with the price of gas the way it is, it was cheaper to just buy it here for the higher price.

Cool! Do a build thread and show us lots of pics.... or else!!!! :D

Tonight I built the structure for the stand and put another coat of paint on the back of the tank. I think one more coat should do it, Bringing the total to 3.

I'd have to agree, looks great. How tall is it? It looks like it might be a bit top heavy and unsteady?

It's 34 inches... which is about 3 inches taller than the stand that perfecto makes for it. It is actually quite stable. The sump in the bottom will help with that as well.

what will the stand will look like when finished, or haven't planned that yet?

Off topic a bit, but I noticed you have a mbuna tank, wonder if you'd mind posting a pic or sending me one, I'd love to see what it looks like. I had one before going marine.
