Awesome... It sounds stupid, but I get mad at my hermits over this. I've been wanting to see it happen since we set up the tanks. I'll see one situating a shell, finding a spot, etc. And I'll sit and stare forEVER. Never fails, as soon as I get up to get a drink or something, I come back and he's moved. Grrrrrrrrrrr...
Hermits have a surprisingly long body. In the photo above, he still had more torso left in that shell.
Also....this guy was pretty clumsy in switching shells. He was exposing himself constantly.
I've had other hermits who will pull the shell directly in front of his shell, and in a blink of an eye, slip into the new home....very smooth transition.
Mine left his hindquarters curled up. At first it freaked me out. I was like what the he// is in my sump. I dont think there was much more in that shell.
Regardless of not being a "true macro" lense. Whatever! That's an awesome shot... Timing and quality. You should e-mail the full sized to reefkeeping or AA.
