Nudibranch Eating Wrasses

Its not corals that they would potentially go after, its the inverts. Shrimp, crabs, snails, worms etc would be the critters you'd need to be worried about.

The Yellow Coris' I have (2 of them) are both in tanks with everything listed above and have showed no signs of aggressiveness towards them. As the coris gets bigger, that may change but I would feel more comfortable with them in the tank and possibly (remotely) losing a shrimp at some point rather than having nudies eating up my prize zoos/palys etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if these things at spiders too since they go after pods as well.

Which one one the list would you say is the most safe towards inverts? I have quite the snail ranch here :)

6 line, 12 line, Yellow Coris or Green Coris.....

has anyone had any luck with the melanurus wrasse or the clown fairy wrasse eating nudis? and how good are either of these fish at controlling pests?
thanks!

1. Yellow Coris ( questionable as it gets bigger ) Most coris are actually invert killers and will turn over rocks looking for them
2. 6 Line ( can be a real PITA ) will kill other wrasses
3. Lunar
4. Possum (reefsafe)
5. Orange Striped
6. Christmas ( questionable with inverts will kill starfishes )
7. Pink Striped

Did a little experiment with the 6 lines (have 3 of them) and the Yellow Wrasse, a.k.a. Yellow Coris or Canary Wrasse. None of the 6 lines had any interest in the Nudi's. But the Yellow Coris/Canary went to town. Cleared them all out.

Well I finally located a yellow coris.Hopefully I will be picking him up tomorrow.I can't wait to see him in action.I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Will they also consume Vermetid snails?
Starting to notice more and more of them lately.

by pink striped are you refering to Pseudocheilinops ataenia? if so, do these have a tendency to show aggression towards tank mates like the 6 line?
thanks!

When I got two leopard wrasses the nudis disappeared. I have a potters leopard and a divided leopard. Don't know if that is what is taking care of them but it is quite a coincidence.

Leopard Wrasses typically have a very high mortality rate when placed in captivity. Especially when single. Wouldn't recommend for as just a pest killer.

I see you Nagel, long time, how's it going my friend?. Care to weigh in on this topic.

Mooch

Does any one know how the different types of Wrasses act towards Mandarins and Anemones? I have a Haddoni, LTA, and a Green Mandarin that are all thriving and I would not want to disrupt this, but I do need to get rid of some Nudi.

Thanks,
Aaron

Well I finally acquired a yellow coris.Cool looking character.
He has been in about a week.I'm noticing less and less nudi's.This is GOOD!
I haven't actually wittnessed him eating them but as long as the job is getting done...

I have tried many things. Yellow by far is the best but some will not eat them and they Jump!! Thank god they are cheap!! How about Dragon Wrasse anyone try them? They turn rock but if you have big rocks you will be ok. Going to try them

Hello Muncho,
I was curious how come the green wrasse that you tested on your own system isn't on the list? Are those on your list are the best so far that eat Nubibranch? My tank is too small, only a 40breer tank, would 1 six-line wrasse be enough to help me fight against Nubibranch?
Do i have to starve the fish so they will hunt for Nubi or i just feed them as much Mysid as i like and they still hunt for Nubi. I feed my tank heavily with Mysid because i got a lyretail anthias in there.

Thanks
