Nuuze, you really are good with electrical! Wowee. I am not brave enough to even wire the ballast that came with the fixture.


I wanted to ask you. When you first started your Sfiligoi, did you have a strange hot plastic smell for a while?

I have had this smell permeate the house the last few days, and it correlates with the light being on. I'm worried it's some sort of fire hazard?

Mine had the "new" smell for a few days. But be careful, I just unboxed another Sfiligoi fixture yesterday and it had quite a bit of styrofoam all over the pendant on the outside including some inside. I had to vacuum most of it since they are sticky from the static.

Excuse me for barging in but Sugartooth what mount is that for the light? The zeroedge one ? If so which one of the three variations they have

Thanks very much Nuuze. I wasn't sure if it's a normal 'new smell' or if something was actually burning in there. Mine had some bits of styro in the openings as well. But I didn't open it up all the way inside to see if there were any on the inside.

Ergin: Yes, it's the zero edge lamp tree and the fixture is SO heavy, it's bending the head and the top of the tree itself. The fixture has that large cord right smack where the head mount is, so you cannot screw it in flush. You have to have it hanging at least an inch to clear the cord.

The arm I received to try out is the small one. I thought they only have 2 sizes? You have to add some distance to it for it to fit. (see pic)

If you mount it flush against the back of the stand, you will be over by a couple of inches at least.

Nuuze:

I have had my Sfiligoi's running now since I asked you about the smell.
There still is a residual smell coming from my fixtures and I looked up in the reflector and saw this:

Did you get this? What is it? They are in both of my fixtures and I'm worried a little bit about breathing in whatever it was that melted.

I would definiately email Sfiligoi to see what it is. Mine did not do or have that. Did you look through the top vent to see if anything was touching or visible there? Not sure if yours had a type protecting plastic or not but both of mine didn't.

Thanks very much Nuuze. I emailed AO to see if they had anyone experience this as well.

I did remove all wrapping and material before installing. I have no idea what would be in there....from the top down I did not see anything as well.

my guess is a plastic film proteting the polished aluminum. A lot of reflectors come with this.
