I know we have a huge diversity of ages, so what do you all do for fun when it gets warm.

Don't get me wrong i love a cooler of beer and a game of golf but...

I have not picked up a skateboard since i was probably 18. I am now 26 and had and itch to get back into it so i got a board. I thought i was too old, but as it turns out i am better than ever. I wanted a way to get some exercise while having fun. Skating is doing way more for my legs than p90x was.lol
I also snowboard in the winter.

Anyone else skate?

Or lets just hear what you all like to do when it is nice.

Mountain Biking is a passion of mine, while road biking is done to stay in shape. I was a gym rat for many many years and now I'm lucky if I go once a week. As long as I get my rides in I'm good with it. So what if my man-boobs get stuck in the spokes once in a while :fun5:

Besides the general dog-walking/hiking, I've started jogging since the weather has been nicer - nice to get out of the gym! And today I hit some tennis balls with Hubby - really really terrible at it, but fun exercise running around with my dog after all the fly-aways!!
Also, when I go visit my family in CO, we'll go out in the boat! Don't know if I'll be brave enough to wakeboard again (after a scary fall last summer). I'm sure tons of people here do boating sports though!

This is my first year in a long time trying to be "atheletic". I've been trying to get in some sort of shape other than round...So lately I've been a gym rat. Three nights a week for 1 to 1.5 hours. I also bought a road bike (Trek 5500) and have been doing a fair ammount of riding. I put just shy of 25 miles on this week.

EDIT My SO is also a golf widow until about October.

I didn't think there were any other skateboarding reefers around here, I've been skating for about 6 years now and couldn't imagine ever stopping

Mountain Climbing, Kayaking, Hiking, and the good ol' laying on the beach and getting tan for the ladies. No need for a beer when you have a shot glass and some Rum.

for me? Solo kayaking from Irond. Bay through Ellison park....the dog park there is also amazing, Wedge loves it. I've already been hiking twice..Fallbrook, near Geneseo and give me the gorge at Stoneybrook anyday. I also will go down to Steuben Co. and hike the woods where I grew up...lovely little falls there...and CLAY! Watkins glen...tent camp and hike...GLORIOUS! Beach combing...swimming...my gardens have alot of interesting driftwood pieces. I sometimes teach a yoga class or two in Highland park. Looking forward to getting in my jet ski fix multiple times this year. Walking the canal path anywhere in Rochester is also a great escape. Love, love, love the options here.

cycling (both road and mountain) and golf are my primary summer hobbies, but I've been trying to get into triathlons the last couple of years... just can't get schedules to work out. I also do a little kayaking, some fishing, and whatever my kids are in to.

My friends and I head down to the beach for volleyball any chance we get. We had an early start this year on those wicked hot days at the beginning of april it was great!

Road biking, some running, and the occasional multisport (duathlon/triathlon) event. I used to commute to work on a bike, but I work from home now, so unfortunately I'm getting fewer miles than I'm used to this year.

Anyone in the Southern Tier who bikes/runs should check this out:

flybynightdu.com

It's at Watkin's Glen speedway. End of this month.

It's especially fun if you're in to motorsports. It's a short duathlon - easy first multisport event, or find a runner friend and do it as a relay team. But half the fun is that they do it the same day as PCA's Porsche Clash, so you get to watch rich people crash Porsches all day. Then you get to go out and ride/run ON THE TRACK! It's really cool to ride a bike on a "famous" race track.

Sounds very cool. I can't do the Broome County Tri this year due to a scheduling conflict - the dual at the glen looks like a lot of fun. Just gotta get a new road bike in time.

Dwiz I've been trying to get into shape enough to do that dual but my ankle just isn't holding up to the running. Might have to change focus and try for a half century or century ride later in the season.

You guys should totally do it! It's seriously my favorite event of the year.

Ryan, just find a friend to do the run, and enter as a relay team. I'm probably going to do that this year, I haven't been running at all over the winter. Plus I know a lot of people who can run faster than I can. Meanwhile my little brother is probably going to do the event solo and kick my butt on the bike legs anyways.

I also skateboard and mountain bike. and regarding huge diversities of ages, one of my good friends is pushing fifty and he's better at skating ramps than anyone I know.

alphaferret a little thing they call golf-I call it a good excuse to get drunk!

lol It is amazing the things that can go on at a golf course. Especially a closed one! I really only learned golf for the parties/tournaments.

I don't doubt it, once you learn the balance involved it is probably no different then riding a bike. Something you never forget. Good to know i still could have lots of years to skate.

It was about 7 years maybe more since i stepped on a board. I got on and landed a few kick flips like it was nothing, but i have yet to get a good session in.

I used to live in Alden(farm land), So when i was only 14-15 yrs old i would catch a bus to the city of buffalo for 8 hrs then catch the bus home. If my parent had known at the time they would have freaked. We went threw some nasty neighborhoods. lol
