o2manyfish 750g Tank, 1500g System "Built" Thread

Hey Folks,

For everyone heading to MACNA, I love chatting with fellow reefers, one of the main reasons I am heading to MACNA. Here is a recent Pic of me. I have a closetful of colorful tropical shirts, so look for the brightest Hawaiian shirt on a chubby bald head and chances are good you found o2manyfish, and if it looks like my hand has a cold 7&7 or Jack & Coke - Then you know it's me.

Feel free to introduce yourself. I am horrible with names, so you might have to remind me a few times of yours :)

Here is some updated video shot yesterday. Having issue with the white balance settings on the camera, and too lazy to pull out the manual.

Here is an update to the brown corals that went into the outside tanks last week. These photos were shot at night. I had a 24" T5 but it wasn't enough light for the camera. So this is shooting with the flash.

You can see the colors are looking good on the majority of corals. I am pretty confident that these corals are ready to move back under normal tank lighting and will be looking good with some blue light on them.

Hernan,

In the main display tank there are about 130 fish.

In the outside tank there are probably another 30 fish in the system.

Amazing tank .. how you looking natural sun light on your coral do you Prefer it ?

The corals do amazing under the sunlight. Same water as inside and identical pieces grow 3x faster outside in the sun.

Some corals look better out in the sunlight. Some corals don't look like much in the sunlight - but once you put some blue light over them, or move them to a normally lighted coral tanks the colors are spectacular.

What I love about the sunlit corals is I can take a tank full of brown corals that have bombed in captivity, and within a week have corals that are desirable again.

Some corals take a little bit longer. And there are some corals that sit outside and grow like crazy and never really color up. But those corals are few and far between.

In the past I have had great luck healing HLLE in purple tangs using sunlight and an all algae diet in the outside tanks.

I came across these guys who were not doing well. I'm hoping that by the time I get back from MACNA these guys will be well on there way back to being beautiful healthy little fish.

It's a little hard to tell from the top down photos, but the hole in the head above the eyes goes all the way across the head of the fish. In the third photo you can see the damage in between the eyes of the fish on the bottom left. And the missing tissue near the mouth of the fish in the top right.

All 4 fish are in similar states of unhappiness.

These guys were being tanked and fed Gracillaria, but just not healing. They were also being kept in cubes and yet their fins and tails were not looking so hot.

Dave. We need to hit the town at night!!! You bringing the pup?? And need sitter or we going out!! There's goos stuff in Colorado. Jelly candy.!!!

Drew,

Fiancee is staying home to mind the pups, macaw, and the tanks. And tonight we found that my trio of percs spawned while hosting in an Australian elegance. Interesting to see 3 percs sharing a a lrg elegance, and nobody seems to be getting bullied. I've kept clowns for almost 30 years and this is only the second time I have had them spawn in one of my tanks. The last time was a tank I had in college. Not that anything will come of it, other than some well fed wrasses and anthias. But I like knowing that the fish in the tank are happy and comfortable enough to spawn. That's the 4 pair of fish caught spawning in the last couple of months not including the 5 Bangai which constantly have mouthfuls.

So yes, I am free to go out :)

You'll be at the Apex meeting on Friday morning?

Win98ena,

Thank you. It took some work but when things are falling together like they are currently it makes it worth it.

Hmmn, I guess that pretty much answers my question of whether you can successfully acclimate Venustus angels into an aggressive community tank. 130 fish - holy sushi batman! Thought I was bad with 40 in a 265, Very nice!
