Occelaris feeding there anemone??

Hi there,

My 2 occelaris just started hosting mu GBTA
which was a huge surprise to my cause i had given up all hope they ever would, one is orange and the other one is black, a really neat looking trio!

Now for my question, do occelaris feed there anemone, i´ve not seen it so far..... :S

Depends on the individual clown.

Mine will feed it only if the piece of food they grab is to big to swallow. If smaller food falls on the anem's tenticals & it tries to eat it the clownfish will rip it out of its grasp.

ok, if i´d put a cocktail shrimp in the tank which is to big for any fish to eat, maybe the would feed it to the nem??

Another question, how do i tell weather or not my bigger clown has become female?

once she is full my saddleback grabs some food and starts spitting it into the anemone

As to your question about one of the clowns being female - do you see any twitching swimming motions between the two clowns? That is typical pairing behavior and would indicate a male and female.

i put pellets in there and my clowns always grab them and put it in the nem.

No haven´t seen it so far. But my current female, the bigger one use to be a male, his female jumped for freedom and perished. shouldn´t the mal become female if he´s companied by a still smaller clown?

It is natural instinct. However, I have never seen my Occelaris feed anything but themselves. I had a GSM that would feed her nems and then herself.

To answer your question if you put table shrimp in will the clown feed the nem... only one way to find out.

I'd go with a piece of shrimp about the size of the clowns head, if you use to large a piece the clown will probably ignore it.
