ok so i got some more salt this weekend and i forgot as to why i did not like this salt to begin with... The mix stays clowdy for at least 24 hours after i mix it... i usually use Seachem Reef and i dont have this problem... do you guys find that oceanpure salt stays clowdy for a while as well?

Gabriel, mine goes clear in a matter of a few hours. I usually make it up a few days in advance, but I do check salinity and adjust within hours of making it, and would see it then.

I have used both regular and pro versions and don't have the cloudy water issue. Usually clears up rather quickly.

the water change area in my sump holds 25 gallons so i jus dump 1/2 a bag(50 gallon mix) and test a few hours later.. almost always come out perfect.. i got the salt from MD...

here is a pic.. i know its hard to see but in the front of the sump is clear with water that is in circulation with the tank.. that area behind is my water change section.. it is still clowdy almost 24 hours later...

yeah I mix 15 min before use and haven't had the problem.

thats whats getting me... what is causing this? for this reason alone i hate using the salt...

the pro came from Fragfarmer and the regular stuff came from MD...

Check alk and Ca. My bet is one or both are higher than expected. Packaging a salt with high levels of Ca, Mg & alkalinty and to be fast mixing to clear is not an easy task (if even possible).

I have the same problem, I checked my ro with a tds meter and it only indicates 1. Also the mix left a lot of residue on the mixing container. When I called Marine Depot they basically told me it was excess calcium due to the residue on the container wall and that’s causing the water to be cloudy. I've been using it and no ill effect yet (fingers cross.) And of course I purchase the regular ocean pro and open it just before Anthony had his sale on the Pro.

woah...

I picked up 4- 200g from Passions for my soon-to-be 240. That would be a bummer if my salt does that. I'll post this weekend w/ my results.

my salinity was 1.020.. i added more salt.. i guess this means i will have to wait another 24 hours before putting this water into to tank...

I use both regular and pro . Cloudy from one mix. Other are clear up right away . Quick Dissolved

SteveU i will let the water mix overnight and post in the morning....

there have been many prior threads regarding what mixes people use. Check them out but Ocean Pure pro is considered one of the most popular!

IO for me . But I did buy some Oceanic the other day because I got a deal on it.
I needed it to finish setting up my new 40RR and 24 AquaPod.
