Thanks, I figured they were doing good, just wanted to make sure. They look fine. If the male does his job, he should remove the bad ones.
Is that a regular bathroom tile the eggs are on? Does yours hatch on the 8th night?
My pair just did two batches. I was not able to catch anything on the second batch. Waited till one in the morning, no hatch, went to sleep, woke up at 7, all eggs gone.
I'm getting ready for the 3rd batch. If they keep their schedule, they should lay eggs tomorrow night. Maybe I should go get a tile.
My phyto and rotifer culture, hopefully you will have enough rotifers, I hear the fry can eat alot lol.

this may sound dumb, but is there a "way' to get them to breed or does it just happen? i have a pair of clowns and want to make sure i am doing everything possible to get them to breed

the tile was my last hope, ordered a fry catcher about a month ago but he is behind schedule and I still haven't got it lol, but those are all great ideas you are using and should work fine.
when I place the tile in the fry tank I will have it leaned up against the glass with an airwand under it to keep the eggs moving, if they don't hatch that day I will prob. just leave it in there.
Were you told 10 days wait when you ordered? I contacted him a few days ago, I was told its 10 days wait.
I'm just going to build one out of 2liter bottle like the original idea.

total cost will probably be less than $5 plus air pump vs $41.50 and the wait.
your clown eggs are looking nice.
I am trying to keep up with your time line and I believe today is day 6 for your eggs. If that is the case you have another day or two to go. My eggs look like that about two days before and they hatch on day 8 with a water temp of 79. They are looking really good and healthy though.
My first time with eggs I pulled them when they looked like that and sure enough they hatched two days later. Unfortunately I killed off about half the eggs because I didn't give them enough movement. Its all part of the learning process and one thing that I can promise you is that you will make a lot of mistakes. The good thing though is it seem like you have a good pair that will give you many chances to figure it out.
here are a couple crappy pics of the babies at 19dph, all with the 3rd stripe./QUOTE]
Looks good! What % do you think made it through so far?
