Octo Extreme Skimmer KO Club

Yeah I definitely lost that red bushing while I was cleaning the pump. I noticed it when I was putting the pump back together..I think it went down the sink drain.

Anyone knows if there is another pump that can be used to replace the psk2500 on an extreme 200?

I find the psk2500 too noisy like a garbage disposal.

I have only started to run it since yesterday, but I just don't see how the noise can improve given any amount of break-in time.

TIA,
Ron

Ron,

You may just want to redo the mesh. I have found this helps with the noise.

No I looked its not there. Do you know of any place you can buy just the red boot? I looked on Sicce's website but didn't get very far.

Do Extreme 200 do the trick for heavy stocked 150 ?? I can't get my work well . It is pinwheel. Will 2 layer mesh mod do better job?

Now, the recommendation to keep the water level at the first bend in the skimmer body is to skim dry or is that the best place period? I used to skim pretty wet and im not used to this dry stuff :P. Anyone know if it will still perform well if the water line is at the bottom of the cup? ALso, the foam head is a dark brownish color not just white bubbles...I love it!

Also, I finally rigged up a bucket/stand for skimmer and now it sits in 8" or so of water at constant level and man...what a difference lol.

I skim wet also and keep the level in the middle of the first bend and the bottom of the cup. This seems to work well for me. I cannot keep mine at the bottom of the cup or it will fill up way to quick.

Hey guys ... need some help :)

i am thinking about getting the Extreme 250 for my 180gal mixed reef. Unfortunately, i only have 11-5/8" width space in my sump. Everywhere i have seen the footprint specs as 16x16 but Aquacave has it as 11.5x16. I contacted them and they said that this is the actual measurement they just recently measured for another customer and that it should fit in my 11.5x16 sump. Can someone confirm this for me ... i would hate to have to swap sumps.

Thanks!

The 250 is a HUGE skimmer :P. I had an reef sump 2 which is about the same width as your tank and it did not fit very well. The skimmer itself fit but 1 pump would not fit so I had to rig a pvc elbow onto the pump and then it worked, but I ended up getting a 40 breeder and the skimmer fit much better.

Thanks reefer31! I just scored a 40 breeder, so space is no longer an issue. Now i just have to sell my DAS EX-2 before getting the octo 250.

Why do you wantto get rid of the das skimmer it is a great skimmer I run a das ex1 on my 60 cube and a extreme 250 on my 250 gallon and both are great skimmers
