October 2009 nTOTM-Tank Entry

My aquarium is a 24 Gallon Aquapod with the stock hood. I upgraded the PC lights to 80 watts from 64 and installed SilenX fans. At the time of this picture (a couple of weeks ago) I had no skimmer. I'm now running a Sapphire Nano Skimmer in the rear chamber. The clear box in the upper left corner is a small frag tray I made out of a sheet of clear acrylic.

Set up date: March 2008
Lights: 80 watts PC
Filtration: No mechanical filtration. Just 35 pounds of live rock.
Flow: two Koralia Nano pumps and one Maxi-Jet 900 as an overflow return pump.
Refugium or Sump: None
Fish: Black Ocellaris, Orange Ocellaris, Orchid Dottyback
LPS: Torch Coral, Frogspawn, Red and Green Trachyphyllia(open brain), Green Lobophyllia(open brain), Blastomussa Wellsi.
Soft Coral: 16 types of Zoanthids, Pulsing Xenia, Flower Leather Coral, Ricordea Florida, Ricordea Yuma, Frilly Mushrooms, Blue Mushrooms, Striped Green Mushrooms, two color variants of Green Star Polyps.
Inverts: Astrea, Nassarius and Nerite snails, Blue-legged Hermits, Pink feather duster tube worm, White feather duster tube worm.

Hope the video is allowed. If not I can swap out a photo. I'm really proud of the movement in my aquarium and I think this video captures that nicely.

Justin: I voted for you last time, hopefully you will win this time round.

Octopus8: I love the coral movement in the video. It is I have to say rather artistic. Veru nice indeed.

Some very nice tanks we have here this month. Maybe in a years time my tank will be a contender! :D

Thanks Sahin that was very nice of you I just enjoy the hobby and like sharing knowledge and stuff with others reef keeping has come along way over the last 10 years and its actually very simple in my opinion to keep a successful reef these days with the invention of new equipment and tank additives it has made it alot easier.

I really think my tank will look pretty sweet at the `1 year mark when things have really filled in i'll keep you posted and if you ever have any questions hit me up on your build

Thanks Sahin! I'm an art teacher, so artistic is a quite the compliment. :)

I agree that Justin's nano is quite impressive especially considering that it's only four months old. Very nice!

murphreef what kind of lighting do you have over that tank

thanks shawn

I have a 250 HQI XM 20K in a lumenmax 3 pendant powered by a bluewave ballast.

Its about 6-8" off the water it covers the whole tank nicely no shadowed spots at all.

LUVSPS thanks for your support :D
