Octopus XP-2000 Cone Skimmer In Stock (Immediate Shipping!)

Noise Level

The pump is not silent. It definitely has a drone to it, however it's minimal, and other equipment on your system would most likely be louder and you wouldn't notice this. It's definitely much quieter than a Sicce pump!

So, how would the noise level on the Bubble Blaster pump compare to the Red Dragon I bought from you for the Alpha 200? I'm assuming since it was previously running on one of your tanks, you'd know if it's more quiet. TIA.

The Red Dragon is dead silent. There is a little drone coming off of the Bubble Blaster, but nothing major. It's not as quiet as the Red Dragon, but it's also not as expensive either.

That's good to know. For those that were wondering why I asked, I was on the list to pre-order the XP2000 and bailed out last minute for the Alpha 200. Tank is in living room, so noise was a big factor in my decision-making when shopping for a skimmer.

Jeremy, is the base smaller than the Alpha 170 ? Can you update the specs of the base of both by directly measuring them? The problem is I have only 8.5' tight.

Interesting. My Sicce is not silent. Then again I would not say my Red Dragon was either. I mean there was a little noise. The Sicce though... well it's a pump. I replaced a Mag with a Ehiem and the Mag was quieter. Guess I can't win.

It will be very interesting how these pumps hold up. Seems Octo has a lot of potential. Don't quite understand why they wanted to cram so much air through such a small body.

The base of the Alpha 170 is 8 3/4", and the XP2000 is 7 7/8" in diameter. Below is a photo of both bases.

Jeremy, any update and pics of the octo? Been waiting for your review since I'm interested in this skimmer.

I don't have any updated pics right now, I apologize. It's working as advertised. The numbers I posted a week or two ago are still holding the same however, that's the only difference I can see from what is advertised. Good skimmer, for a decent price!

So far the numbers looks like this:

Air Draw: 1140 LPH = 40scfh
Power Consumption: 30w
Power Factor: .37

These readings are at 8.5" sump depth.

That looks great. Manufacturers specs on the bubble blaster is 85 scfh of air at 50 watts.

My Sicce pump is super silent and I have two of them.
