Octopus XP-2000 Cone Skimmer In Stock (Immediate Shipping!)

on a mixed 70 i am considering ext 160, or the XP2000sss. shoud i save the money and get the 160 or get the better XP?

It's up to you. Either would work fine on that size tank, however I do not see the need of going bigger than the Extreme 160 on that size tank, even if it's extremely heavily stocked.

Just ordered mine up from PA. Looking forward to getting it. However, I will have a 12" water level in my skimmer section of the sump. Any suggestions on how to build a platform, what materials to use, and how high it should be? Thanks!

Jeremy, what depth do you think it runs best? I've heard some say 6", some 7 or 7.5". Thanks!

Mines in 6" of water (Per Manual Recomendation), in a Baffled Sump, constant water level. However, after running fine for Months, It has started to Overflow for no apparent Reason!
Like the settings change.
Pump seems to increase. No other reason, no additives, etc.
This has happened over 4 times. Anyone else have this issue?
TIA!
-Wolfgang

Have you tried cleaning it out? Sounds like you might have build up in the air line or air port on the pump.

Found water Pouring out of it again this Morning! Took apart it apart to check out the air line and port, totally Clear!

Yes, all clear. The Assembly screws off the front of the pump in one piece for easy cleaning. the port, and tubing is clear from pump to air silencer.

Any chance you live in an older home, or a neighborhood that can experience brown outs? It could be that the pump is speeding up or slowing down as a result of this.

Thats the next thing to test, how steady the Voltage is.. All I can say is same Tank. House, Outlet that ran the Skimmer this replaced, and never had that one do this! (ETSS Skimmer).
I'll Talk to the Electricians at work about checking the Power.

It is air getting trapped in the intake of the pump. Seems to stopped sucking in air and increases the amount of water. My BB3000 did this a couple of times during break-in.

I have the front of my pump facing the front of my tank so I can look into the sump and see in the pump's intake. I noticed when it did this, that the intake looked like it had a large air bubble sticking out of the reducer. Like it was blocked.

Jeremy what is the height of this skimmer and how much extra clearance do you need to take the cup off?

For the first week that I ran my BB3000 pump, a couple times a day, the watt usage would drop from 42 to 36 for a few minutes, then go back up to normal. ( SCFH dropped also). There seems to be a break-in period on some of these pumps. I believe it took a week or 2.

If I had adjusted my output during this drop, the skimmer would have overflowed when it returned to normal..
At 1 mth, I am loving this pump!
