I've searched and found 1 blog on here about this but it really was never answered but anyways. I'm looking to upgrade my t5's on my 125 gallon 6t long 21" high tank. I want to do a mixed reef including some sps. My friend has has an odyssea metal halide light. I know peoples opinions are mixed on these but he has had great success with his reef for the 9 months he's had the fixture. I was looking into one of these and saw they also have the led fixtures. I understand they are 1 watt led and not recommended. Here is the link to the fixture http://www.aquatraders.com/LED-Reef-Bright-p/56214.htm.
So my question is if I got 4 of these at $129 a pop, 2 on each side, will that compensate for the lack of wattage to sucessfully keep a mixed reef tank? The MH fixture is about the same price as if I paid for 4 of these but then I would have to buy 3 new MH bulbs at $60 a pop and 4 new t5 lights and then the cost of electricity etc etc. So is this an option or should I just run with the halides?
Thanks
