The MH light that I always say I never had a problem with caught fire today. The capacitor melted and started to smoke/burn-Thank goodness I was at home. I was able to smell the problem and unplug the unit.
I replaced the burnt capacitor and the other working one with replacements from City Lighting. The replacements are quality and encased in metal. The ones in the unit were not and were plastic.
I called about 20 electrical supply places for these and City Lighting was the only place that carried them. I bought the last two but more are on order. If you have one of these fixtures I suggest you open it up and see if they are a plastic POS. I believe this also happened to Chad-GWA
The product # is
Magne Tek
Capacitor
16 MFD 300VAC
005-1498-BH
Made in the USA
I got a contractor price of $9 If anyone wants to replace these I can get the parts and it is a 5min DIY job that gives piece of mind
