Hey everyone,

I'm curious if any of you are hooked up to xbox live. I'm having problems getting onto xbox live although about a month and a half ago I was getting on with no problem. I keep getting an IP failure. Xbox support claims it couldn't possibly be the xbox so I figure If I can hook it up to someone else's connection and see if I get the same message or the xbox actually gets on live. Then I'll know if it's my network or my xbox.

Thanks,

Jon

I'm OK too. If it's IP than it probably is you (or your physical xbox..but not the service)...your router/modem should be responsible for getting an IP for you. Are you hooked up to the same connection on your computer?

I know it's not my connection. I get on the net fine with my computer and my Vonage. I just can't figure out why the xbox won't get on. Xbox tech support says it can't be the xbox but I'm having a hard time believing them. Even when I connect the xbox directly to the cable modem it won't find an IP address. I'm so freaking frustrated....I found a guy at work that is going to hook my xbox up to his network. If it fails to find an IP on his network then it has to be the xbox 360.

When I run the connection test the 360 knows that it's wired but it always fails to find the IP. I was on Xbox live for a couple of months and then all of a sudden it stopped working.

Thanks,
Jon

So then the "on your physical box" comment I made is probably the case. Just in case you didn't think of it..you did use a cable you KNOW works right? And I haven't looked at the back of my 360 in a while...does the network connection have the standard CAT5 connection orange and green indicator lights? I'm at work so I can't look. You should have a solid green and flashing orange as data is passed if it does...and I think it does.

I bought a new cable a couple weeks ago thinking that might be the problem. I'll check the lights on the back.

Thanks,
Jon
