I have a Nuvo 16 with the IM Aqua Gadget skimmer and it is producing a lot of micro bubbles. Does anyone know how to stop them?

Thanks

Place a filter pad between the skimmer and the baffle that flows over into the return pump chamber. Helps cut back on bubbles a lot.

Hey buddy, I like your setup a lot. You're water looks nice and polished. I will do some digging around in your threads, but if I may ask how you are setting up your filtration to get your water so clear?

I have a Nuvo 16, just filled it up last night. I'm already not a fan of the tiny little basket stock filtration...I knew I wouldn't like it.

I really want to do some sort of micron filtration..micron filter sock or something custom. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot! It took a bit and filtration still isn't where I want it, but currently I am running two custom caddys. One side has the standard yellow sponges that come with the tank (have these on both sides actually). Then I have a mesh bag with activated carbon and a poly pad for ammonia. The other side has a few bioballs and the provided green phosphate pad. Also running the IM SkimMate desktop skimmer. Hope this helps you.

Just filled the tank yesterday. Not happy with the lack of clarity..I'm used to running filter socks. Filter socks to me = unparalleled clarity. So this Nuvo is an entirely different beast.

I took your tips..grabbed a couple nylon bags filled with carbon, and I have what's called "filter floss" bundled on top of that. I cut to fit the overflow chamber and to be honest, even without the custom InTank baskets, I like this much much better than the stock baskets with the stupid sponges.

Any more tips?

Just keep drinking that good sonoma county beer until the water becomes clear!!! Miss California.

I run the poly-filter and floss in both my caddys and the water is very clear and polished. Just grab some poly-filters and cut them to spec and you will be good to go.

Do you lay the filter floss over the poly-filter? I am setting up a Nuvo 40 and I just got the custom media basket. I put filter floss on top, purigen in the middle and fliter floss on top. Where the other basket was I ordered a fliter floss holder from intank. I was thinking of just running floss in that basket, but now I am wondering if I should put the polyfilter under the filter floss? is this overkill?

On the left side I run poly filter, chemi pure, and purigen

On the right side I run filter floss, chemi pure, poly filter

I feel it's a good balance. No issues so far. Those caddys are great

So just to be clear in my head you are running chemipure on both sides. Does that mean you run 2 smaller chemipure rather than 1 of the larger ones?

I am running the 6.5 chemi-pure elite on both caddies. If you have not purchase anything yet, I would switch over to the chemi-pure blue. It has had a good write up and a new product from Boyd.

If you passed craft hour in kindergarden, you will be able to make them :D

No one near me has Poly Filter for some reason. But anyway, I threw away the stock trays. I'm waiting on InTank baskets.

As of right now I'm running nylon bags of carbon, with floss and a micron pad above that as the water enters the overflow. Crystal clear now! ;)

Looks good!

Looks good!

Thanks!! I'm pretty happy now. I have to admit, I was a little bummed and disappointed when the water wasn't getting clear. Last tank had a sump with filter sock so I can make the tank pretty messy and in less than a day it would be clear like nothing happened.

Understandable. Just gotta keep in mind that the filtration is all completely different so it's not going to happen the same way. But it looks good and where you want it to be right now so keep up the good work. And keep us posted on it's progress!

This may seem like a stupid question but where do you keep your water level at in the tank? I am cycling a 40g and not sure if I should fill to the top of the back wall and to the top of the over flow, or it better to have the water level slightly lower than the over flow?

there are no dumb questions!! You want to keep below the last wall of the chambers on either side. Meaning, you should see five separate in the back

Now that is really confusing me.. Not sure what you mean. Any chance you could take a picture of yours
