Official Innovative Marine Owners Thread

This is just at the stage where my ATO will be kicking in. The water is down about 1" - 1.5". ATO will bring it crack up to about .5"

you can see the water "fall" line on the back of the tank.

I dont know if anyone saw my post so I am reposting. I just started a IM 40g. What ATO would you recommend for someone without a sump?

I have the IM hydrofil, but there are apparently some cheaper ones, such as the Tunze I believe. However I only have experience with mine and haven't tried others.

Here's my sump after ATO.

After reading some of the post here, I guess I really should lower my water level in the back of the tank!

I lowered mine, I'll post a pic when I get off work. But I still want to know the benefits of keeping the waterline low versus high.

The benefits are this, if you have a reactor, heater, or skimmer in those baffles, it forces the water to pass through them. If you keep your water level high, the water is not forced to pass through those baffles. This could mean that water will not be filtered, heated.

This is a great thread especially for someone like me who is thinking of starting a Innovative Marine tank. It was just a little hard to follow BxS_Reefer217 post without the photos, so I hope you don't mind that I reported them.

Umm reported or reposted?
And here are some pics of the back of my tank so as not to confuse anyone

Hopefully these show a bit better.
Basically you want your water level to the point that it actually flows over your baffles.

I use a Tunze 3155. The eye and float go into the back chamber of the tank. When the water level drops, the top off water pumps into the back chamber from a reservoir next to the tank

Thanks for this info. I didn't even think about that!

I just changed the water and went to add my clean up crew today for my new 40 gallon Nuvo and I noticed a very tiny crack on the inside of the glass going down vertical. I am so annoyed and hope it does not continue to travel downwards. It seems to be on the inside, and not all the way through. It is on the right top towards the start of the black panel. I know I did not hit it or crack it....

Send an email to IM and also talk to the LFS that you bought it from. Brian at IM has always been super helpful with me.

Honestly, I'm starting to wish I'd gone with the Apex system. The RKL is very crude with how you program and the instructions. The Apex is more $ but you can program and manage it via built in web server right out of the box. The RKL is not intuitive at all. Or maybe I'm just retarded.

I dont mind cursing, but retarded is just hate talk.

Any of you guys order up the Ghost Protein Skimmer? Looks pretty sweet. I pre-ordered and can't wait to get my hands on it.

got mine and also added a screen top. temperature dropped 2-3 degrees. also love the razor light!!

Hello,
I am currently working on an article that highlights amazing innovative marine nuvo aquariums. I love your tank and was wondering if we could use your tank and give you credit for all your hard work. Please let me know, thank you!

Any of you guys who aren't using controllers, what kind of Digital Thermometer are you guys using? Just broke down my 90G and downgraded to a Nuvo 16 and have no controller anymore. I am looking for a Thermometer that isn't a POS.

3 weeks old.

I did some research and really did not like any of the digital thermometers out there, so i just got a hagen glass one and threw it in the tank.

I did though spend some marbles to get a cobalt neotherm heater, so temperature stays stable
