Official Innovative Marine Owners Thread

I run a ecotech gen3, mp10, tunz ato, but when it comes to thermometers its old school

Yeah, im done for a while, just keeping this as a desk tank since i dont have it in my heart to sell my last 3 fish that i have had for over 9 years. Im keeping it simple. Got the Nuvo 16 that comes with the lights. Anyone know how those lights are? Fairly decent color?

I took a break too for three years, just got back into it in April. I had the 16 for a while, lights are decent. I would recommend doing three across the tank instead of the standard two. Good coloring. Can't put any heavy hitters in there but could do softies for sure.

I did some research and really did not like any of the digital thermometers out there, so i just got a hagen glass one and threw it in the tank.

I did though spend some marbles to get a cobalt neotherm heater, so temperature stays stable

I have the same heater and really like how stable it keeps my temperatures also

Hey all, I'm new to saltwater and new to the forum. Was thinking about starting a 16G IM as my first tank. As i have read, people often swap out some of the parts. Which parts do you recommend swapping out?

Swap return pump for better one (more flow/less noisy), take stock filter baskets and throw them at neighbors cat. I think those two are the most popular.

Thanks! Any suggestions on type and model pumps and filters? As i said I have no experience with setting up a saltwater aquarium.

I also noticed people add the skimmer. Any preference regarding the IM skimmer vs a Hang on?

There are many options, but i personally love the aquamax hob-1 skimmer, it has done wonders for my tank IM sr-60.

Stock pump is I think 211gph or something like that. I personally upgraded to a Sicce Synchra 1.5 (357gph), it's known for being quiet and I needed that, plus the extra flow. You can choose pretty much any pump you want. The pumps in our class usually have 1/2" outlets, which works perfectly with the IM factory included tubing. I don't know about other pumps, but with the Sicce I did not have to modify any of the stock tubing. The pump fits back there and everything plugs together easily.

Filtration? Search through some of the IM Nuvo 16 threads. You'll mostly see guys using the upgrade baskets made by a company called InTank. I don't have any baskets personally..I have nylon bags stuffed with carbon in each overflow chamber, topped with a cut to fit sheet of filter floss folded over twice. I have to replace the floss once every 4-5 days.

Im getting the same tank (Nuvo 16) I think im going to try their new Ghost skimmer. decent design, but it think the needle wheel in the pump could be more aggressive. maybe something to do a quick mod on.

Got my tank today, I was able to condense the remainder of my 90G into this:

Stock pump is pretty noisy so I will be looking to replace it soon.

Looking good!!!

I replace my oem pump with a ehiem 2000 and love it. So totally replace the pump.

I got the ghost skimmer up and running last night. I like the design and where it goes, now just wait for it to do its thing

So the eheim 2000 fits in the NUVO 16?
